My family has been in hazmat trucking for over 4 decades and had plenty of wrecks. Actual TNT dynamite, ammonium nitrate, diesel fuel, quick lime, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, anhydrous ammonia, LPG. Nothing much is particularly dangerous on its own, aside from the boxed glycerine.
They *almost* last forever in the lower deserts of AZ, with the exception of: plastics, rubber trim, clearcoat paint peel from the 1990s, or the summer favorite: Car-b-Que at the side of the road due to overheating/oil leakage.

Exactly right. When you see the detached wheels cartwheeling around after an accident, they always have the suspension (with tethers) attached. Because the anchor points on a carbon fiber chassis can not stand the forces exerted on it by the wheel impacting something (wall, another car).
