Years ago, I worked for a hospitality company that had dealings with Spacey (can’t go into more detail w/o doxing myself & others). The company eventually banned him as a client because he was aggressively sexually harassing both customers & staff, both verbally and physically.

I wonder if there is a psychological/sociological term for this. We can’t in popular arenas and mainstream media seem to be able to talk about and correct for the primal misogyny that helped Donald Trump get elected, so this is some kind of safety valve where people can express horror and outrage and still pretend

Neither did Rock Hudson....he was just nominated for Giant (I thought he’d won).

This is so deeply unkind. Victims react to abuse and harassment in a variety of ways, and a very common one is to do the opposite of making a fuss, for a number of reasons.

It’s sorta bittersweet how Gawker is being vindicated left and right after its demise.

Donna Brazile just gutshot the Democratic Party. Anyone who’d mellowed on the whole ‘Clinton stole the nomination!!!!’ thing is now going to be back on it full-force and the Cons are going to crow about it incessantly (completely ignoring Trump, of course).

Victim blaming and poor reading comprehension. He did tell people at the time, and he was also very low on the totem pole and was undoubtedly afraid he’d be fired. With Spacey’s rep, there is no reason to think anything would have been done.

HE can be intelligent and a gifted actor and a terrible person. We all contain multitudes.

Especially the boys, the girls not so much. Girls being abused is just another day, boys being abused is a huge issue, maybe because men can see themselves represented by boys.

Fatty Arbuckle was innocent, so ironic you use him as an example for this.

Oh yeah. As happy as I am about these abusers finally getting taken down, I can’t stand the smug and supercilious attitude it has engendered from so many republicans. Add to that the Donna Brazile news, it makes me just feel very hopeless today about Democrats ever winning again.

I just realized that this all means Spacey was the first LGBTQ actor to win an Oscar

It will crescendo... then fall out of the public mind at some point. A year... maybe two or three. It would take a lot of people constantly reminding the public these things are happening to keep it from being an ongoing problem. But eventually the will to do so will falter, and those who have power will exercise it

There are others but looking it up I just realized Montgomery Clift never actually won an Oscar. That’s a fucking shame.

One of these guys is literally President right now (edit: and many of these kind of men have been POTUS before as well). You think this is over? The only reason the Hollywood scene is imploding is because it’s a dual front of MSM finally reporting on what’s been “known” for years and right wing media basking in the

The thing is that Arbuckle probably didn’t do anything

Maybe Denton could buy up Gothamist people and make a hybrid Gawthamist.

Nah, he has company in that closet.

Nah, there’s lots. Brando, Jodie Foster, etc.

We need Gawker now more than ever. Denton, are you out there?
