It’s funny to me (not really) how these types of Black men who accuse powerful Black women like Oprah of anti-Black male bias for calling out misogynistic behavior by prominent Black men (e.g. Simmons, Bill Cosby and R. Kelly) never show compassion for their victims, who’re are almost always Black women.

“Upwardly failing”

We need some more Jocks to smash’em. Smash’em good!

Dammit, you chucklefuck, your intentions were perfectly clear. You wanted to hurt and embarrass a total stranger because some stray gross impulse darted across your lizard brain and being a white male, you never even thought to resist or question it. You honestly expected her to find that funny or at least “laugh it

I wouldn’t make that big of a deal out of what Wilde said, for the simple reason that I don’t expect the star of the movie to shit on the director and the movie before the movie even comes out, and risk being labelled “difficult” and ending up doing commercials and shitty TV shows instead of being the next big thing

The last decade of Alan Moore being a “grumpy dick” prettty much just amounts to hack bloggers purposely needling him on topics that he very famously has very little good to say about.

Yeah, Moore never hated superheroes, that was Ennis (and even that is a bit overblown).

Yeah, I saw it in Manhattan (it was not screened for press in the U.S.), and while I used AMC Stubs for my ticket, I brought my kid and hers was indeed $5. In Manhattan!! They don’t even to matinees after noon!

It’s pretty obvious that the criticism is rooted in the editor-in-chief taking issue with the movie inventing something defamatory about one of their former employees and not because he only wants likeable female characters.

I sympathize with his mental health struggles, truly, I do. However, if you are very sensitive to opinions about your work and life, maybe being a famous stand-up comedian who publicly dates very famous women is not the right life for you.

Hey Caitlin, I appreciate the way you wrote up the Melissa Benoist blurb. Seems like a lot of the internet is focused on identifying her partner at that time (which I gather is pretty obvious), but I can’t help but think that she didn’t name him because that’s not the takeaway she wanted for us.  Thanks for staying on

Pretty sure these two articles are going to break a record for the most dismissed comments ever.

The Superman actors are a wonderful coincidence, but Bass Reeves was an actual person.

I agree. Ronan Farrow did hero’s work, so did Twohey and Cantor. But given that this is EXACTLY what we’re all begging men to do (blow the whistle on other men’s bad behavior, even when it might cost you something) I’m not getting fussed about any accolade heaped on Farrow. Go ahead and lionize that man. Maybe the

Shut up.

Angela, came to respectfully query and critique the provenance of this God-awful phrase Afro-Brit? Have been seeing it pop up on The Root over the last couple of years, and simply cannot trace its origin. 30 something years of inhabiting this black body in the UK and I have never heard a Black British person or a UK me

Do people seriously not realize that if this cut of the film was remotely watchable then WB probably wouldn’t have hired a new director to do a major overhaul?

I dunno, but I’m definitely at comments-like-this burnout.
