Gate lice exist primarily because most people have little common sense and/or think they are above the rules due to their sense of entitlement. They want to avoid paying extra fees, but they also want to avoid the inconvenience of gate checking their bag (for free I’ll add) at the expense of those that did pay some extra fees or have status for earlier boarding. They can pound sand.

An airplane must be strong enough to be fully structurally sound unpressurized. If not, it would structurally fail if it decompressed or at low altitudes where there is little to no pressure differential.

That did used to be a thing. Volvo shipped 240 “kits” to Canada and assembled them in Halifax for quite a few years. Nothing was actually made locally, it was JUST an assembly plant for the bit shipped in. Many other companies have done the same over the years. It’s not really how it’s done today though.

Okay, I’ll be that guy: I have tested at pretty much the same level (.067) once, when I was cycling home. I would have bet anything I would fail (i.e.: test above .79, the limit for driving is .05 here), given what I had imbibed and how I felt.

Wait a minute - his BAL was 0.067. The limit is 0.08 (at least where I am). And you can easily be impaired under the ‘legal limit’, and still subject to prosecution. So no - at least here - 0.067 is absolutely not a guarantee that the dude was ‘sober enough to drive’.

.067 is pretty high though... Might not be legal limit high, but I know myself and I’m pretty buzzed by .05, let alone .067. If the dude was swerving “putting on a seatbelt” something tells me this guy was driving impaired, which is still illegal. Yes .08 is the legal limit but you can still get a DUI while under .08…
