Here’s a thought experiment: is there a single recognizable Republican politician that Bowen Yang and this writer (and many of the commenters) would be OK with seeing on SNL in 2024? Mitt Romney? Liz Cheney?

If putting her on for a few minutes gets Trump angry enough for his heart to get a little closer to The Big One, then it’s fine.
I’d be curious to see the political breakdown of the SNL viewership. I’d venture it’s far more conservative than the cast. With respect to Haley, the show has a long history of having on all kinds of political figures so I don’t read too much into this.
“It’s also unfortunate for fans of Saturday Night Live who are disappointed to see the long-running series embrace figures whose views are upsetting at best, and harmful at worst.”
I still am shocked by this. I don’t quite understand it by Ferrari, who must be paying a massive amount to get it to happen. It will be a culture shock for all parties - is Hamilton going to call out Ferrari all the time like he has Mercedes the last two years? How is that going to play out? Are the Italian fans going…
Insurance does NOT prevent crashes, it only provides compensation AFTER a crash occurs. Requiring higher limits will just result in higher premiums, which will have three predictable outcomes, higher shipping costs, more uninsured operators, and more lawyers chasing big payouts. “There is NO ‘free’ money!”
OK, I get and agree with the point that $750K is not enough liability coverage in the modern world. Heck, I carry more than that myself (umbrella liability policy), and my little BMW is not going to do anywhere near as much damage as a semi.
This is the kind of thing we have to stop doing. Dave Chapelle is funny, says funny things, and makes jokes. Some of those jokes hit, some of those jokes feel a little dated now or maybe don’t work well with the way some people’s values have changed, but it’s just comedy. He isn’t out there advocating for anything…
Amen. EVs are mostly a fad for expensive luxury toys and status symbol cars (and they always will be). Toyota knows this and is committed to affordable, high volume hybrid vehicles.
The last thing we need is MORE cops.
Then no.
If you cannot safely execute a pass on a two-lane road without exceeding the speed limit, you are not legally allowed to pass. A speed limit is a limit applied to the speed at which your vehicle can legally travel.
what happens when they decide to just shut off your car. Sure, maybe it’s not a possible scenario now, but what about in the future?
Trips take as long as they take, excesssive speeding because the drive is boring or the destination is far shouldn’t be excused, encouraged or the norm. Everyone thinks they’re a better driver than everyone else until Newtonian physics taps them on the shoulder and says, "time's up, beotch" and you get your card…
I literally have done three to five cross-country drives annually since 2017.
It’s called a computer and/or cellphone. Nerds do a lot of the things you take for granted, the least you could do is support the occasional application of their craft that results in less death. Never stop repeating to yourself: the people dying in car crashes are very often people who did not cause the crash. This…
I have a house in Nevada. Nice try.
It really is nothing like that at all. Obviously you’ve compared GDP growth, employment, productivity, inflation, foreign trade across all the EU’s major economies against the UK to get to this opinion? You were just told Brexit was universally bad, so you believed it.
Maybe, but compared to the basket case that is most EU economies, the UK isn’t looking so bad. The CEBR forecast from December of last year indicated that the UK will be Europe’s fastest growing major economy over the next 15 years.
