7/10 is a C Grade. That is not a “good” grade, it is a middle of the road grade, and completely unacceptable in some households.

If they were based on what speed the 85th percentile was driving, on many highways the posted limit would be higher.

There is a thing called go with the flow, regardless of what the speed limit it, assuming ideal conditions, it’s safer to drive the same speed as everyone else rather than going much faster/slower. Inside the loop in Houston the limit is 55 mph, IF you do the limit YOU WILL DIE, the average speed is closer to 80 85

where there’s one incident out of a nation of over 300 million citizens and ohmigosh! this abomination has to be stamped out right now because ONE incident is too much.
