That watch strap looks about to burst, fly off, and take an eye out.

Thank you! I’m actually feeling much better, but now my husband has it. So I guess I’ll be in caretaker mode for a few days.

Oh, I hate those specialized light bulbs, like the candelabra one, or the round frosted globe ones in the kitchen fixture. My dream is a house with only 40 and 60 watt equivalent standard bulbs in everything.

I’m polyamorous, so NRE is a thing I had to learn how to navigate. If your partner is excited about someone not you, you have to back off a little and let them enjoy it. Still be around and supportive.

I have the flu, but my fever broke. I’m getting better, and right now that feels huge.

New Relationship Energy is a hell of a drug. I would let her relationships play out from a distance, if you can. I know it will be hard, but it sounds like she is at least temporarily obsessed. If she asks why you seem to be distant explain calmly that she seemed to be focused on her boyfriend, and so you backed off.

I have no advice but I am poly too, with a husband, live-in boyfriend, and dog. I’m also looking for a house to buy because the rent has gotten too damn high. It seems tricky to find a realtor in my area that will understand or simply not judge us too much. My best wishes as you look for a new home. Good luck!

I’m unhappy i need to move this year too. We have to renew our lease, but our rent will be going up 12%. In the meantime we need to find a house to buy and actually buy it as first time homebuyers. Ah! I’m terrified of buying next to awful neighbors or finding out there is an issue with flooding, or termites.

My single biggest time saver : when i can’t decide where to put something, I ask myself “where would I look for this?”

I appreciate your answers, and they do reflect what I hear from my high school classmates that never left that tiny rural town. They either don’t care, know they aren’t informed and so don’t think they should vote, or wouldn’t know an election was coming any more than they would be able to predict an earthquake.

As a former rural small townie, it is so clearly lack or access and stigma. If i went to the town pharmacy to buy condoms, my mom would have gotten two or three voicemails or texts about it by the time I could drive home. Everyone knows everyone’s business. The nearest Planned Parenthood was over 45 minutes away if

I got out of my small town, and I am married and child free, but when I go home I’m not a “real woman” to a lot of my peers because I’m not a parent. I have my own business, college degrees, and a way better financial situation, but I’m not an adult to them.

And the idea that If I go back to my hometown, everyone will know I bought condoms in about a half hour. People would drive over an hour away to get birth control so their neighbors wouldn’t know, when I was growing up. Lots of shame about sex, no same shame about having babies though,

As many are saying in my rural hometown, it was sex, drugs, rock and roll, or academics. Everyone moderately smart tries to get the hell out. There used to be four big factories that employed most of the town when I was growing up. I’m thirty now, and only one of those factories is still around. There is no movie

$300 an hour for a lawyer is actually a bit low. My husband made that with only three years of experience as a bankruptcy attorney, and bankruptcy is not a flashy area of law like say possible Supreme Court cases.

As a thirty year old who has voted in every possible election since I was eligible, can you explain why other young people don’t vote? It boggles my mind.

If I recall correctly, it is illegal to use the mailbox for anything that has not paid the postage. That’s why Chinese menus are shoved in the door not the mailbox.

Domesticated cats suck. Wild birds are awesome. Keep your damn pets indoors.

Just thought I’d let you know I loved Blackish! I watched all the season available here (three, plus the episodes of season four on Hulu) super quickly. So thank you. :)
