It's not the suddenness, it's the gratuitous nature of the violence. I don't think you can make the "it's based on medieval times, of course it's graphic" argument at this point in the show.

Well this is Game of Thrones, so there has to be a graphic beating, stabbing, burning or flaying before any burials are even considered.

I don't know if it's just the general fatigue I have with this show or what, but I really struggled to watch the Sand Snakes get murdered on that ship. It just seemed so pointless and over the top watching Euron beat a couple of women knowing it was just because they couldn't come up with a story for them.

I'm going with the glass box personally - or the Woodsmen, but Dana Ashbrook actually seems like a pretty competent actor this go around compared to the original (at least the first season, he wasn't very good, but obviously had some payoffs later in season 2 where he was better). Probably hasn't been around enough…
