I live in a state just next door to Alabama, and there’s legitimately nothing I can do to make the outcome of their special election any less inevitable. Call it defeatism if you want. The guy has been revealed to be a predatory creep and the polling is stabilizing in his favor, as it was always going to do.
I think acknowledging that inevitably there will be a fake allegation somewhere in all of this in advance is important to being able to keep it from derailing all of this painful but healthy and important sunlight.
Will you find a few nonwhite women who vote for the dude? Sure. Will he get even double digits among them? Nope. Will he win more than 50% of white women? Yes. I’m pretty comfortable letting that statement stand as is.
