I know, right? Multiple people unprovoked referring to the “git gud crowd.” I spent years avoiding souls because of talk about the difficulty, but I finally tried them during the pandemic.

You can say that it’s less dynamic because of the lack of what boils down to animation canceling. But the commitment to an attack you chose to do is a different facet to combat that they do well. Deciding between a large attack or quick attack with a quicker recovery is a dynamic and immediate thing. Not like there…
god the comments on kotaku have really gone downhill. for this article, all the top ones I see are variations of “actually dark souls isn’t good” lol
you responded with assholery, not snark. Making sweeping judgements about someone, suggesting they don’t like challenges cus they don’t dig Souls games is assholery.
And person isn’t saying “make souls games easier for me” just saying they ain’t for them. Das it. Is some of it a bit “woe is me” sure, but why are you…
Shhh. Don’t help him with his social awkwardness, he needs to git gud on his own.
Dark Souls 2 and Sekiro, definitely exactly the same.
Yea it sure looks exactly like their other games. Definitely no major changes that will make a huge difference to how it plays. Yep.
Yeah, exactly. The narrative and gameplay typically give you enough context clues to be able to parse what certain enemies might be weakest against—like Lightning dmg against Dragons—and, even if it’s not the most damaging option, using a bow and arrow to mitigate how many enemies you aggro at once cuts down on the…
I think that a block, regardless of whether its done with a shield or a weapon, should block 100% of physical damage. Elemental damage chipping through “makes sense” to me, and allows for interesting niche equipment (like the Black Silver shield of Demons Souls).
It seems basically like an open world Dark Souls. Yeah, that will work just fine, so long as I don’t hear about any game breaking bugs or other dealbreakers I will definitely be buying this. Love the look so far, and the combat looks solid.
The answer to that is simply why not?
I’m already liking Slightly Goofier Faye, I’m glad they’re doing their own thing. So much of what made the anime what it was feels like it’d be nearly impossible to translate to live action anyway. There’s a kind of stillness and atmosphere that isn’t really possible with real people.
Verbs are a basic component of all spoken and/or written language. Pretentious how?
I didn’t say they’re never negative for no reason. I said in this particular case the subjects are newsworthy, and so they have a good reason.
Came here to say just this. I don’t need to be able to undo a gameplay mistake, I just need to be able to turn off and do other things.
Like Returnal, we don’t need manual saves, we need save and quit. Just the ability to stop playing and go to bed, or go make dinner.
How far have you gotten? What is the wall you can’t seem to get by? Is it just not gripping you? Don’t know what to do or where to go?
A fantastic and personal article about one of the best-written games I’ve ever played.
Very excited to hear Andrew WK go darker. I also like that his idea of darker is Ronnie James Dio. It’s really just perfect.
“Wanna help us kill Sheriff Goode?”
