My only vote for FFVII's remake is the same BASE reason I want any game remade: its impact on its genre was huge and it was an experience shared by so many of my peers that it merits at least an upgrade to the PS2 era.

I thought acti-blizz was a merger, not Activision taking over Blizzard. Needless to say, I'm off wow for now, so the only money blizzard can look forward to getting is my Starcraft II purchase which will then be funded by all the premium maps I make.
