There’s nothing about Mario inherently that makes him a bad character for a fully dialogued movie, apart from Martinet’s voice acting. The Super Mario cartoons from the 90s were just fine, and they, supposedly like this movie, gave him a Brooklyn accent.

That may be true, but that’s got nothing to do with Martinet doing Mario’s voice. And the fact remains that Martinet’s Mario performance just does not translate to full dialogue.

That’s revisionist history. Ledger was known primarily for things like 10 Things I Hate About You and A Knight’s Tale, and was seen by many as a pretty boy lightweight as an actor. The anger over his casting was ferocious and widespread, and the skepticism was near-universal.

Not one of the performances you mentioned would be tolerable for a full-length film. Sure, maybe he could tone it down and do a different voice, but then what’s the point of casting Martinet in the first place?

No. Look. Stop this Charles Martinet thing.

Yeah these are great points too, and the one about the message from Bail honestly went right past me amid all the other weirdness until you mentioned it. It’s hilarious because the event that triggers Reva finding out this secret amounts to Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi doing a “Whoopsie! Butterfingers!” with the most

I more or less enjoyed the episode, though I did have a few critiques:

It should be easy, considering that major components of American society are, and always have been, socialist constructs that everyone pays into and everyone ostensibly gets the same benefit from. Including ones that make conservatives beet red when you call it out.

From my experience, most conservatives list themselves as moderate or “other” politics on places like Bumble and OKCupid, to evade being filtered out by the vast majority of potential matches. Same reason a lot of people over 40 simply make profiles giving a younger age and then correct it in the written profile,

I didn’t say they succeeded, only that that’s what they were going for.

When I watch modern prestige franchise series like this and like Picard, I’m left with the impression that modern screenwriting schools of thought involve focusing on a series of what they hope are memorable vignettes, or “big moments”. Usually these are either action setpieces, or sweeping emotional statements, or

Not sure if this is a joke, but it’s not being split in two.

It is right. Afterlife is a prime example of how the majority of nostalgia projects from beloved franchises settle on breathless prop worship and ham-fisted callbacks as a means of extracting easy ooh and aahs out of the audience. But the worst thing about it is it’s just not much of a comedy.

There was no reason for Vader to let Obi Wan get away that’s firmly established in that or any other part of the Star Wars narrative. Let him get away why exactly? Obi Wan is public enemy no. 1. He’s at the top of their “Kill all the Jedi” pyramid. And even if Vader already is experiencing conflict, there’s no reason

That’s a major pet peeve of mine as well. The audience doesn’t need a character to act nervous and stand there silently while they’re being accused, sweating and gulping, to understand that they’ve been putting up a front. It strains all credulity that this behavior wouldn’t end any chance they have at being believed.

This is a positively baffling opinion. Last week’s episode was messy and disjointed, and gave us a long-awaited confrontation that was as confusing as it was underwhelming. This week’s actually had a cohesive narrative that didn’t require any absurd leaps of logic to buy into, whereas last week’s had the mother of all

There was also a syndicated TV series continuation called The Munsters Today with a new cast that bizarrely lasted longer than the original.

I’m gonna have to call BS on the idea that Batman Returns “takes the concept seriously”. This is a movie absolutely loaded to the hilt with corny puns, in which an army of penguins with little rockets strapped to their backs attack Gotham, and in which penguins hold a funeral procession for their dead human son. That

He was really good in that one Doctor Who episode, but that’s about it.

That is one very cool aspect of Deck. Running Final Fantasy IX portably with Moguri Mod is revelatory. And while Skyrim runs well on Switch, it’s a whole other experience with mods.
