It’s not unheard of, yes. Bad VAs have at times been replaced in the past, and I wouldn’t ever rule anything out mid-development, if people complained about it a lot. It may not matter to you, but it matters to me, and I’m sure to some others.

I don’t think “It’s not that important to the game and you can just turn it off if you don’t like it” is really a great response to bad VAs. The fact is, they’re in the game. They’re a feature meant to be enjoyed.
It’s not a knock on the actors; I’m sure they did the best they could with what they were given. It’s just…
I mean, I want MK9 eventually, preferably when there’s a Switch 2 that can deliver actual marked improvements over MK8D.
For now, I think this was a better announcement than MK9, from the standpoint of how much content I’m getting for my dollar.
I thought the animations in the character profiles were really well done, and I trust WayForward to do right by the game.
I hope the voice acting has improved since the first demo. The gameplay was nice but those were some of those most godawful VAs I’ve ever heard.
No rules beyond Nintendo’s announcement saying “This will be focused on first half games” yesterday. Not that you were the only one to pay no attention to that.
I mean yeah, interrogation and coercion were his specialties, and punishing failure was part of his job. Using the Force for those was always in his wheelhouse. That’s more personal, specialized work than just killing a bunch of grunts.
Those two things aren’t mutually exclusive. A movie can be a bad idea and a lot of people can still want to direct it.
I completely agree with you on Vader. The Vader I loved from the original films was not the kind of character who would waste his lightsaber moves on a bunch of Rebel peons. He had Stormtroopers for that. He sent them in to mop up and then he followed behind, because fighting a bunch of nobodies was beneath him. It’s…
Fan service in and of itself is fine, but in my opinion should be used more sparingly than Disney has. When there’s so much of it, I stop feeling “serviced” as a fan and start feeling manipulated.
I agree more or less, though I put Rogue One way at the back for being half a movie about forgettable characters and half groany fan service.
It was confusing at first. They initially made it sound like this human Buzz Lightyear lived in the same continuity with Andy and his mom. It did need further clarification.
It may be a TNG love letter, but that battle sequence is all DS9.
I think Google’s corporate culture has been defined by what an overnight sensation (in relative terms) their search was. Now they think every one of their products has to achieve the same, or the idea is flawed.
That said, there’s also no saying Microsoft’s strategy of allowing Xbox to loss lead for years and years…
You guys are the press. What do you think of it?
Has Kotaku really been reduced to reporting on other people’s reviews? I get that maybe you aren’t among those who get code ahead of time, but come on.
It’s funny, but you can almost set your watch to an AVC writer making some kind of little false statement in every article they publish just for a weird bit of throwaway color.
Moreover they paid a lot of money FOR him.
God damn it.
She may never have stopped writing her own material, but I would argue she has stopped writing it well. Compare her earlier stuff to now and it’s all so overproduced, overwrought, and paradoxically comes out of it with less identity.
Completely agree. Some people just can’t let it go.
