I like how, despite the fact that Dawes and Johnson have completely different agendas, both have enough experience to act as the grownups in the room. Like, Dawes is smart enough to know that his usual "what would an Earther know" schtick isn't going to work for Holden, so he flips the script and calls him a hero

Highly doubt it. (I'm sort of a planetary atmospheric scientist.) The water in the blood would boil into vapor, but the solids would get left behind, so any snowflakes that form from the vapor would be pure. If you had a jet of liquid blood droplets, they would most likely freeze into sleet-like pellets than

I noticed the protomolecule in the title credits too, and went back and did some digging…

If "going dark" had actually worked, I'd agree with you, but it took Naomi literally five seconds to find it.

Don't wanna.

Just FYI, AV Club: my adblock software makes the comment button disappear, and I like my adblock software more than I like commenting on The AV Club.

So this is what passes for gonzo journalism in 2017?

If you're liking the show, you'll like the books. While the show isn't a 100% faithful adaptation, it does a much better job of capturing the books' style than most TV adaptations do.

The actor's Iranian, but the character is Indian.

I like it better this way, it makes it easier for him to relate to the casual viewers in his audience.

the phrasing sounds like it actually means "Uber removed or reduced surge-pricing rates during the protest." Which would be good.

You're right, this is dumb. Let's try some basic economics. Normally, when lots of people want to go to/from somewhere, Uber's computers jack up the price. At JFK on Saturday, they disabled that, keeping prices low. What are the consequences?

Not true. Surge pricing typically kicks in automatically during heavy travel, but they *turned it off* during the protest. The AV Club report is confusing, but Uber's original tweet is not:

Agree that that would be fair, but it's going to be a negotiation both sides are going to want to see only one side of.

Oh hey, it's time for my secession rant again! Let me copypaste from last time, then add a thing.

Really I'm just amused at the usual self-importance of The Academy

a source claiming that Farhadi would qualify for a waiver exempting him from the ban.

The antenna and battery are in that bit.

Case in point: after many years of constant improvements, Apple iTunes is now almost completely unuseable.
