Here's what I don't get: according to NPR, Flint is gonna have to spend zillions of dollars replacing all its old lead water pipes. Apparently every old city has lead pipes, but it's not a problem because they add corrosion prevention chemicals to the water. But Flint stopped doing that because budget cuts.

Could you say the Roman Republic cosplayed Athens?

I'll be checking it out soon. People say we're in a sci-fi TV renaissance, but you wouldn't know it from the comment counts on the reviews here at the A.V. Club.

This is where we chuckle at TV-watchers who have no idea what they're saying.

there was also a game called Anti-Monopoly, which was about how monopolies were harmful to a free economy

The first rule of Monopoly is, don't fucking play Monopoly. It was designed to be a terrible game, it *is* a terrible game, and when you ignore the rules it's even worse. For the past 30 years thousands of smart folks have been designing much better games.

Didn't find any official church comments, but using the Gargler I was able to find some blog posts by Mormons:

Posting this in the spoiler thread, though it's relatively harmless comparison between the show and the book:

Perfect scene: the lobby before the shootout. The muzack. The waiting in line. The gradually increasing number of scary-looking guys in the room. The sweat on Kenzo's forehead. SO MUCH TENSION!

So let me see if I have this right:

Yeah, this looked like someone had pasted dime-store plastic spiders all over her. The book's description would definitely not work for TV, but I was hoping for more.

But until we know what is going on exactly, it is hard to be emotionally invested

And the muzack was perfect!

Yeah, some of her later books (Esp. "Blackout/All Clear") go a little heavy on the research-demonstration, but Doomsday Book and To Say Nothing of the Dog are perfect.

Call 'em and make sure they meant to do that. I got stuck in an infinite loop once with an organization that sent me a refund check, then sent me a bill for the same amount once I cashed it, then sent me a refund check when I paid the bill…

If ya wait long enough, sometimes they'll clean it up themselves…

I can't make up my mind: it comes down to "work within the system" vs "fuck the system".

My dad too. In fact, pretty much everybody who gets a colonoscopy comes out of it talking like a fricking cultist. I think it's a combination of Stockholm syndrome and really spectacular drugs.

If it helps any, that leak amounts to 0.1% of the global human-caused methane emissions. Which is pretty fucking huge for a single source from a single company, and yeah CA and the EPA should fine the pants off 'em, but it's not going to Mad Max the Earth on its own.

Yep. He may be the most left-wing pope in ages, but he's still a pope.
