To avoid indecision paralysis and actually *watch* something. Every night, it's "I wanna watch some TV" followed by two hours of browsing through Netflix and iTunes finding excuses not to watch things, then bed without actually starting anything. It's the opposite of the old channel-surfing "there's nothing good

I think everything up to the death of the first major character is required viewing. Everything to the end of Season 2 is fantastic. Season 3 kinda drags.

I mean, everybody on the cast was solid, but quite frankly I found her character one of the least interesting.

I'd watch that.

Don't get me wrong, I love the show when it's a silly procedural with witty repartee and Fillion being charming as hell. Castle geeking out because he thinks the murder was done by aliens? Sign me up! But more and more it's trying to be a hard-hitting 24-style thriller, and it's just eye-rollingly bad when it goes

Wish I was that lucky. I swear, one of these days I'm gonna make an ultimatum: honey, it's either me or Nathan Fillon.

The amazing thing about living in the era of Too Much Television is that we're differentiating into separate pop culture species with nothing in common. To hell with watching the same shows, I'm pretty sure I and other AV Club readers aren't even watching TV on the same planet as the People's Choice voters.

That's not my argument, that's my paraphrase of someone else's concern. And the backstory of the Texan-sounding, South Asian-looking Martians described in the book makes exactly the point you're trying to make, but with a sense of humor.

wanted Chipotle, but I didn't want food poisoning

Real talk: That *is* a raging alcoholic. He's drinking more than my parents did, and my mom's dead of alcoholism and my dad's wearing someone else's liver.

Yeah, as soon as he said he was sohrry about the terrorism, I had him pegged as Canadian. ;)

When I say more I mean a greater percentage at higher partial pressure. Doing a little math at 8,000 feet (2400m) you're breathing a higher O2 percentage to maintain comfort

Yeah, and what's the cop gonna do, anyway? Make the train start moving by waving his badge at it? I'd be rolling my eyes too.

Little confused with the Miller and bus scene, why did he just get made at a random goth for a second?

I think it's the phrase "VZ" that was corny. So long as they don't use it, I think VZ will be fricking terrifying on screen.

*checks my copy* Yeah, that's what I think too. But I'm not sure how Season 2 would work out: the rest of Book 1 is definitely less than a full season.

Good place to end it, but that leaves Season 2 in a bind. The rest of the first book is a bit short for a full season, and the second book is kind of a radical shift in storyline and characters.

Yeah, I think the show's trying to spend the most energy developing characters who aren't going to be around much longer, so you care when they get killed, and put the others on slow burn.

Yeah, on the show I think he's a *likeable* sanctimonious ass clown. What say you, non-book-readers? What do you think of Holden?
