Now that I think of it, it's interesting to compare FTL with Sunless Sea. Both are "roguelike" in that they have randomly generated elements and permadeath.

I didn't find Daisy Ridley to be particularly good or memorable as Rey,

FTL is for masochists. I recommend Sunless Sea, Invisible, Inc., or The Banner Saga.

Eh, I didn't think the problem was that Jurassic World was badly shot, I thought the problem was that the script was unbelievably stupid. Fortunately Trevorrow had nothing to do with that, right?

You're right, that while the big battle is from A New Hope, the personal elements aren't. Like the father/son confrontation on the catwalk, the light saber battle between a trained Sith and an untrained Force-adept youngster, and the adept going off to a forgotten world to meet a Jedi master for training.

Jokes aside, I bet you can buy "turns-out-to-be-a-fraud" insurance for your antiquities and artifacts.

Thing about old people is, you can't try to change 'em all at once. Don't try to both hook him on The Wire and bring him into the 21st century of TV at the same time: spread it out a bit.

And that review doesn't even mention the castaway in the green dress who's not what she seems, or … I could go on but I won't. Such a game.

Because he cares more about the films than crushing the resistance. He thinks it's worth sacrificing a few pawns to get the films that people would otherwise hide from him.

So much potential, but I'm starting to get a "Lost" vibe from TMITHC, in that it has no idea where it's going.

Nope. Julianna's the center, Joe's just an asshole who drops everything when he sees a pretty girl.

You're not supposed to identify or relate to Joe: he's just a handsome stupid asshole. Everything he does is self-serving, no matter how unethical or dumb, whether that's trying to earn Smith's approval by doing his bidding, trying to get into Julianna's pants by helping her, or just satisfying his own curiosity with

We'll find out, but I hope it's just a vision. If people can pop between universes at will, the show will be much more boring.

YES. Especially your second point. At first I was like, "how does she know to Jedi mind trick the guard?" but obviously she grew up hearing stories about the heroes of the last big war.

The buzz for the past year was that she was Han and Leia's daughter. Ren being their son was surprising, to me at least.

Actually what sealed it for me was that Han didn't say anything about her being his daughter.

"Rey, I am your cousin" doesn't work for you?

Your "Kylo Ren saved her" theory still works if Rey is Luke's kid.

It *was* the Adventures of Rey. Finn's a viewpoint character, but not the focus.
