I don't think the power is that much of a problem as is the mileage after which it will literally fall apart around you.

You'll agree thought that You usually don't do as much mileage in a Ferrari than You do in a diesel SUV, therefore at least some degree of reliability should be expected. It sadly hardly is in recent VW engines.
