Watching the trailer again focusing on backgrounds I do see some similarities more to the stuff I watched in the 90s.

Thats about a whole 10-20 hours shorter than the first Ni No Kuni with minimal sidequests. That’s a bummer.

The characters being restrained and stripped by the monsters and having to be saved via touch screen rubbing. Also appraisal system is some inspired bullshit. Kind of impressed.
