I’ve been trying to stay alive, really. I’m also rewriting whole portions of my book, so that ought to keep me busy. I really believe that is book will do for me and my analysis of the world I always felt I deserved (but denied myself because black folks are raised to question their talents and gifts). I’m doing a rewrite now because my publisher and editor sent me their reader reports. We go through about 2 more of these reports. I’m going to purge about half (this would be about 20 000 words) and replace it with new text.

I just handed in my manuscript and doing my first rewrite. I hope to have the whole thing concluded by this time next year. I’ve always found it weird the way that Caribbean people are often not referred to as black or are maybe seen as “something else” in the USA (by other blacks).

Don’t mean to sound ignorant but isn’t like everyone in the W. Indies mixed? Like, I figured between the rape of slaves by Europeans and the introduction of Indian and Chinese indentured labourers, it’s a pool of genetic diversity.
