just saying “this is how things are” isn’t actually a counter to “things shouldn’t be like that”

I mean, I’m usually somebody who points out “hey, look, this is just how these things work” but the idea that standard business practices can’t also be schemes is... naive at best, I think? Anybody who has worked at a large enough corporation or has worked on corporate contracts knows that sometimes “business as

Regardless of the history, I don’t think it’s controversial to still refer to Gary as the “father of D&D” (while “father of RPG’s” should rightfully belong to Dave)I think few would take Kuntz’s view that he outright “stole” his work, but the myth that he made it alone, or pulled it out of nothing, I thought was

No reduction intended, I’m just stating my surprise to learn that the “overhyped legacy” has somehow survived these past 13+ years. As I said, I don’t consider myself a “gaming historian” at all, so it’s just very weird to see this displayed as revolutionary.  I guess this must be what getting older is like.

Dave Arneson got Jack Kirby-ed.

This comes off as a bunch of old men squabbling over the fact that one of them is remembered while the others were forgotten.

That was actually an interesting account, thank you for sharing.

You act as if Japan is the only country with a schoolgirl fetish.

Clueless hero makes such outdated generic observations and barely even tries to turn them into jokes. The art is unimpressive and the main character lacks any sort of personality.

One of the best Kingdom Hearts comics Awkward Zombie has done. I hate that Nomura called the Ultimate Keyblade that.

On the DA2/DAI party comparison, one of the issues I had with DAI was that some of the party members, Sera and Vivienne being the clearest examples, felt like they had originally been planned with the DA2 companion system in mind. When they instead went with the DAI system, which is really lacking for me in many ways,

Yeah, as I mentioned in another reply, the third act is kind of a tragedy as it clearly suffered the most due to the rushed development. The other antagonist you referred to is an example of that as they were there for just gameplay reasons, which caused a big disconnect in the story.

Titanfall 2, easily.

Suikoden II, pretty much without a doubt. The first game was good, but the second was so well done that it surprised and remains I would argue one of the greatest JRPGs to date.

Sonic Adventure 2. Full Stop.

Now playing

Yes, we did. We also learned that Vegeta is apparently knowledgeable about 80's gag mangas.

I do appreciate that Toriyama is bringing more women into the DBZ universe. Though for the most part they’ve all been written just... absolutely terribly. The alternate universe saiyans were hard to bare, and Cheelai from broly was just unintelligible. Or maybe i just dont empathize with anime characters anymore.

If Epic had launched their store as an “angel investor” indie showcase from the start, dovetailing with Unreal Engine dev grants, there would be only the tiniest fraction of the backlash they get now. Instead, their first three exclusive announcements were two games that already took pre-orders on Steam and a
