Nintendo’s official canon (which, to be fair, tends to change without warning) is that Wario and Waluigi are just two weirdos who hang out together. They’re not brothers, which makes them even weirder.
You know, not everyone is looking for a partner. I believe Wario and Waluigi are confident in their own skins to be their own men.
Just here to confirm all of this. The Odd Gentleman are the reason this game is so delayed.
This needs to always be pinned to the top of the comments.
Which is why I explicately said I was referring to Light Yagami from the manga, Light Turner is so radically different he’s not the same character. Comparing the two is basically pointless. In the case of a true adaptation of Death Note he’d have to be part of the majority, however in this he could be a talking…
I keep trying to explain this to folks for “Light” to work the real light from the manga to work in a North American setting he’d need to be white. Why? Because Lights race doesn’t mater, his privilege does. One of Lights greatest assets is nobody would expect this perfect son of a cop, star student, athlete to be a…
It’s possible to Americanize something and NOT whitewash it, since Americans can still be of Asian ethnicity.
I’ve never understood why being a social justice warrior could be considered an insult, unless it’s that Warrior is only an NPC class and we want to be Wizards, Fighters, Rangers, and Druids too. People who think being in favor of social justice is an insult are actually insulting themselves.
If it TRULY were normal in our culture now, you wouldn’t be seeing articles like this any more.
There’s still plenty of resistance, even outright aggression, to the idea that queer people exist and should occasionally be represented in various media and entertainment.
It’s waaaay better than it was, no question, but…
Jesus it sounds like you only deal in extremes. The group I play with is brand new to D&D and one of our first big bads was a shitty ex boyfriend of one of the player characters. It was great! It informed the rest of the party about that player’s very mysterious background, it gave us insight about that character’s…
Yeah. It took me a long time to really figure that out. Its not the DM’s story. Its not the DM’s game. Its the players story, the players game. The DM is playing the antagonists and background in the players story, in the players game.
I’m seeing a lot of people seeming to miss the point of RPGs here. Thanks for pointing that out. I’ve always DMed to facilitate the player’s story. I create the broad arcs, and leave the details to the players.
I was thinking the same thing. A DM can make a campaign whatever he or she wants it to be. Play the game with a bunch of foodies? Go ahead and weave in some food related fun. Have gay players? Why not tailor a few NPCs to be gay?
Oh. You’re one of those people...who doesn’t understand what the DM is there for.
It’s a checkered history, but certainly the recent history has been pretty good about passive openness to variety.
Roleplaying in general is some amalgamation of:
Because D&D has had marginalized groups in its DNA since the very beginning?
To ruin the world for all of the assholes who see people enjoying the freedom to live their lives in peace and ask ,”But Why?”
