That is the nail on the head. Look at the square enix games. Talk about boring design.

I can’t be the only one who assumed that this was The Last Night when the footage first aired right?
It looks really great! It’s like a next-gen HD-2D. Hope the gameplay is just as good.
Apparently, the track is by a DJ who goes by Versus (not to be confused with the 90’s indie band of the same name).
I was thinking the same thing. Big budget games are where comics were in the 90's, every character is over-designed, with 27 belts, pouches, and 100 layers of clothing.
This is my favorite of all the reveals. Looks like it will take 2d side scrollers to a new level of depth literally. There is another game w/ similar looks that’s been in the works for a few years, but this one really got me excited to play it. sad it’s not going to be released this year.
This really reminded me of something I honestly think a lot when I run into games like this - namely that I’d like to see these kinds of aesthetics outside of sidescrollers. It seems like the medium keeps getting some of the best aesthetically designed games, while particularly the bigger games in gaming are…
I am genuinely, unironically, all-in on this. I love the simplicity, the creativity required to produce something on a device that's limited, the who's who of indie developers developing for it... I really, really love everything about it, and I want one now.
I’m not sure what to make of this. Looks interesting. Hope they can get some demos of this handheld set up at stores like Best Buy or Gamestop
That’s optimistic. This thing is going directly onto the collector curiosity shelf. It will be played for all of an hour or two for most people.
I’m definitely going to get one, and now that it comes w/ more games that sweetens the pot. Let’s hope scalpers don’t ruin this for everybody too.
As opposed to the Analogue Pocket, this seems to only run a few custom made game correct? Which probably explains why they don’t expect to be in short supply......
I think the funniest part of this article is the fact that your original comment has no stars and the second one has 11 as of right now. I would star both comments myself because you deserve it, but that would ruin everything.
It is like having precognitive knowledge of a trainwreck.
“Look at this plate of hot garbage!!!”

As a product of the Ninja Turtles era of toys-to-shows marketing, so am I.
It was a slow start for me, but I hung in there. The intro felt like it was taking forever, but then just after I aligned with a tribe and started digging into the side quests... that’s when I started to have a lot of fun. It’s easy so sink a lot of hours into this one once you get jamming.
I’m looking forward to starting this today, despite the reviews. Something about a weaponized ninja-rodent oddly appeals to me.
You can coordinate without chat. The main thing you need to coordinate in doing is becoming a ball, having your teammate become a ball, or setting up passes. There are button calls you can press to make this stuff happen. As soon as you get out of the early levels and get matched with more experienced players that…
