Not all murders are gun related, but overall, men tend to be killed by men, while women...tend to be killed by men. There are a lot of factors at play. Yes, it is true that most victims of gun violence are male, but 90% of the homicides in this country are committed by men.

I feel like he targeted women - but frankly, this has just fallen off the radar of the news media - so there’s been no more analysis. I’ve been really saddened/disheartened to see no further coverage (who were the other victims who survived?) - not even here on Jez (thanks Jez for covering it today!).

This discussion isn’t about which gender is more likely to be victimized, it’s about who is doing the victimizing. Men.

Will Huckabee get elected? I doubt it — his performance in the current polls (admittedly months before the first actual election) is very lackluster. The candidates who have the strongest chance at this point are Donald Trump, Scott Walker, and Jeb Bush.

Almost like... he’s being... hunted

No. Women who sound like this sound terrible. I can’t speak for anyone else, but it ain’t just the bros. Women who speak like this may come across as uniformed and unintelligent in a professional setting. Trust, as someone who is well versed in code switching, its fine to sound like a Kardashian amongst your friends.

“ There is one area in which I think Paglia and I would agree that politically correct feminism has produced a noticeable inequity. Nowadays, when a woman behaves in a hysterical and disagreeable fashion, we say, “Poor dear, it’s probably PMS.” Whereas, if a man behaves in a hysterical and disagreeable fashion, we

One woman: “That’s not enough to convince me. She’s probably lying.”
Two women: “Still not enough. Celebrities get falsely accused all the time.”
Three women: “They’re all just trying to get a quick buck out of a good man.”
Four women: “These false accusations need to stop. There’s no proof.”
Five women: “Okay, it’s

I’m an American living in England, and in the last few years we’ve had two high profile cases involving male celebrities who were rapists and child sexual abusers. First was media personality Jimmy Saville, who died a few years ago at the age of 84, before his crimes came fully to light. Hundreds of accusers of both

I’m gonna have to go with the great Gardner Dozois. As a former editor of Asimov’s, he saw the first launch of so many new voices. His annual Year’s Best Science Fiction collection has passed the 30th anniversary edition. He’s a damn fine writer himself, but has put much more effort into his editorial duties. Also,

I don’t know if he is considered too big to be underrated, but Ray Bradbury’s wrote literature when almost all around him were still writing pulp fiction with rayguns, BEMs, and blank eyed robot henchmen. He gave the genre a soul.

Need to add:

Octavia Butler for tackling racism, ethnocentrism, classism, sexism, and corporate greed.

It really pains me that no one has mentioned Andre Norton yet. She was one of the earliest woman science fiction and fantasy writers and certainly the most prolific. She inspired many current female and male writers including Mercedes Lackey and David Weber.

Octavia Butler

Rod Serling. For both his work and the opportunities he gave to other writers to be discovered.

Of course he will. And Ms. Allred will NAIL HIS ASS TO THE WALL.

I want her to suck his soul from his withered corpse so that he collapses like a balloon right there on the stand.

Waitwaitwaitwaitwait... you’re telling me that Gloria Allred gets to question Cosby under oath? There are not enough popcorn gifs in the world for this.

When I was in high school we had to pick an author and read their entire body of work. I picked Ursula K. Le Guin, all my copies were tattered second hand copies all stained with greasy thumb prints and ripped covers and I was in love with them so hard. In mind's eye even now I see myself curled up on the sofa and the
