I'm assuming the one the headset is plugged into is a combo microphone/headphone port and that the empty hole is for microphone specifically so that it'll work with those headsets that have two jacks that need to be plugged in.

drm is draconian, not ahead of its time.

PC's have been in drm hell for decades now. consoles are beginning to dip their toe into the same pool of drm that pc drowned in quite a while back.
