Try the pull out after two second method(not a joke). Pull your phone into your PC and start Zune, go to updates and after two second pull your PC from the intertubes, wait a minute to see if it send you a update.

Yes this is a hassle but a factory reset solves it. Make sure all your stuff is synced to your PC. You can get all your apps back by logging to the online marketplace and picking and choosing what you really want back(don't worry you won't have to pay again).

It would be quite funny if Windows Phones are the only ones that don't have this.
