We need it and we *want* it to be great. I’m a Marvel fan first, but I’m a comics fan above all imprint leanings, and I am rooting for it to do well, course correcting where MoS went wrong, or not, just being damn fun and epic.

Yes! I immediately thought of The Caves of Androzani!
Wait, what happened to Batwoman? Did they erase her sexuality?
In film school, my film history teacher wouldn’t allow you in once the movie had started, let you eat anything, or leave for any reason. IT WAS BLISS.
My dad, God bless him, is 76 years old now, and in his early fifties when I was a kid. He always had a hard time grasping why I’d want “dolls” (G.I. Joes) for Christmas.
HOLY SHIT THAT’S RIGHT! Where is Norrin and Dawn Greenwood??
Avengers #200 gets little love around these parts...
I agree. While I’m all for a diverse Spider-Man, I want Peter to be white. Changing him, I feel, is a disservice to all the other Spiders, most specifically Miles, who needs and *must* make it to the screen at some point. The contrast between a bland white wisecracker super bug dude and a modern black-latino wall…
I’ve been feeling guilty about something lately: I’ve loved many many moments in KSD’s Captain Marvel series, I bought the action figure, and I adore Carol as a a character, from the moment as a kd, when I found out Rogue stole her powers. (Heck, I even enjoyed her weird rape/weird pregnancy from Avengers #200.) The…
As the film laid out its premise in the first few minutes, I was concerned my three year old wouldn’t grasp the main concepts, but she was right there with the characters and the plot. We even used the characters to help her through her fear of her swimming lessons later in the day, and she is currently laying in her…
It’s actually a facile, yet clever device to lure you into making an assumption at the start of the movie, to play into pre conceived notions as you encounter the characters and assume, as they do, that joy=good and sadness= bad, but the movie plays out and you see and understand that emotions, are not good or bad,…
I’d say for merchandising purposes, but I don’t expect to see DC/Warner dumping the old look to plaster this one across their apparel anytime soon...
Dear Grant is always buddies with rock stars and musicians, having helped Robbie Williams with concepts and stuff for his albums (the Superman All-Star TPB even states that Frank Quitely’s version of Jimmy Olsen is based on Williams, and you can see it in the sketches.)
Me too! I have a three year old daughter who has recently become OBSESSED with the Ghost Busters movie. I got out of storage some of my old toys, but it turns out, I gave most of them away. (Back in the late 80’s, I was THE Ghost Busters kid among my peers.) I wanted her to have GB toys for herself, and when I saw…
Very true! (We had an entire conversation in the greys, didn’t we?)
They are, to a degree, fluent enough for everyday conversation, but when the cameras start rolling, it becomes difficult for them, and it shows. It’s a shame, I’ve always said, to judge them based on this, but that’s what happens.
For the last fifteen years or so, when it comes to coverage of the national team here in Mexico, the media always focuses on three or four players to interview, mostly the mexican born. I long felt it was unfair, but I supposed the media finds it weird that a national representative would give an interview in english.
Tacos de perro. Downtown Mexico City. (I kid, or am I.)
True. Ten years ago, people in general didn’t care about the youth tournaments, but as the victories came, so did the awereness. Now with two U-17 world championships and one runner-up finish, the general viewing public is aware and watching. I can only hope the women’s side can attain something similar.
Me too. In this day and age, it seems like peanuts, but the fact that Adidas made a specific kit for the women’s side is one of the major breakthroughs for the sport down here. There are still a long way to go, with channelling the talent towards constant and consistent competition, and getting people to understand…
