I would say that it depends on the type of food bank. There are several different different types ranging from huge mass community distribution types to small individual food closets.

Thank you, your words are very kind!

Yes, those are good. Canned chicken being a favorite. I remember being super happy when we got canned salmon, so that’s an option as well. Canned pork makes really tasty pulled pork with a little doctoring, and canned and bagged beef (shelf-stable) even exists, which is good in soups.

Well technically, it’s not officially tied to poverty limit anymore, in some legislative sleight of hand they’ve changed it an annual cost of living adjustment, which still works out to..you guessed it 75% of the poverty level.

I wish.  Haha.  But let me get it under 5 minutes for testimony and work in the absolute crap that disability is pegged at 75% of the poverty rate.

That cook book looks very cool, and luckily for me, many of the pantry items needed for it I make sure to keep on hand. But for most snap people? Setting up a pantry is expensive, and can take all of their food budget. I started with one from my not so poor days, and then have been able to replace as needed.

That’s still missing out on alot of needed things. Calcium? Iron enough for women? Omega 3?

Ugh...no no I absolutely love the food bank folks! I know they are doing their best with what they have and I am eternally grateful for it. We also have some amazing local companies that donate ugly produce that is still quite fresh, and surplus canned. I’ve written thank you letters to some of these. I especially

Thank you.I wasn’t looking for pats on the back, but to paint a picture that even what I do isn’t a reality for the urban and/or working poor, who simply don’t have the time, live in food deserts, or don’t have the knowledge that I do.

I tend to say that in the majority of human history, the poor were just literally starved to death. Whereas now, we have unhealthy, cheap, subsidized food where the poor are killed by diabetes or heart disease instead. And then blamed for it.

I came for that meme! But you didn’t upload it!

There goes my theory that the lack of full frontal lobe development caused this effect in teens. 😁

This has been an open secret for years, with the especially titillating view that it’s one reason that women actually love yoga. (barf)

No couldn’t be that we are a much smaller generation, or that boomers aren’t retiring yet, that would require you to think critically rather than bash over a silly meme. And yet, we still outvoted all of ya’ll in 2016. We start more than half of startups, are the center of multi-generational families (I myself have my

Unfortunately, your German fallacy doesn’t even stand a chance in America. Mostly because we lack the public transportation infrastructure that would benefit anyone not living paycheck to paycheck in your scenario. Being elitist doesn’t mean better. That would be cost prohibitive to more than half of america. One

bike lanes exist and are even becoming fairly common in the Detroit area, where everyone is obsessed with their cars.

Giving you an internet high-five.  This is the best thing I’ve seen in weeks.

If they drive off the sidewalk and onto my grass, can I go yell “Stay off of my lawn!!!”  That would be some poetic justice.

Thank you for your service...and combat medics are my favorites for things like blood draws and iv placement, you guys seriously put all nurses to shame!
