Could look good on a resume if you word it right. Don't put "worked with Rudy Giuliani", put "worked with top presidential lawyer". 

It sounded like she was in a bad situation life wise.  Desperate people do desperate things.

While I can barely understand starting to work for this man in the first place, I really can’t fathom staying with him long-ish term.

Part of it, I think, is because women, of all classes, are always supposed to do it all: be a great and devoted mother, keep the house together, and (depending on your religion/politics) have a career.
