Every US state except Montana has at-will employment. Sometimes I read these comment sections and think, do people just not realize how few rights they have? Like 90% of people seem to think they have the right to only be fired for cause, they don’t have to worry about the terms of those liability waivers because “you

I gave you a star because I agreed with you, and then I read that last line, and let me tell you...that pun is masterful.  I wish I could star it again.

Seems like a fairly open invitation to a wrongful dismissal suit ... until you remember that Idaho is a “work at will” state so there is no requirement for the employer to have a reason beyond “I just wanna”.

Ah, the glory of at will employment. What a wonderful system. Capitalism!

I suppose it depends on your definition of “victim.” In one sense, anyone whose life is negatively affected by a crime that they are innocent of is a victim. Obviously, that’s not how we typically use the term in a legal sense, but their lives have clearly been disrupted and hurt by this.

Times are tight, but combing through this article for copy edits, grammar and spelling errors could be a good quality control decision.

Right, unlike white men, like the plaintiff, who are models of owning up to their shit.

Yeah, I mean, unless someone can prove that they had foreknowledge of this and did nothing, this is entirely fucked up.

It’s “Rawson”, not “Rawsom”, and “memebers”? C’mon, guys. Proofreading is your friend.

This is a civil trial, not a criminal trial, so Gwyneth can’t be “convicted”, just found liable financially.

Also, if she wasn’t rich and famous, this dude wouldn’t even be bothering

Well, the asshole who rear ended my wife a couple months ago is now claiming it wasn’t his fault. People have a strange view of reality. That, or they’re fuckin’ liars.

This site is such a fucking joke. Have you guys actually read/heard this asshole’s testimony?

it’s funny how it’s just assumed that SHE is lying and at fault here (because she’s...famous?”

I don’t know about anyone else but that’s pretty much exactly what I’d say.

I’m not a fan of hers, but extent of injury and what she did after isn’t actually indicative of fault.

Exactly, the uphill skier is fully responsible for avoiding people downhill of them. Skiing 101.

Gwyneth is weird, yes. But I don’t think she’s actively evil. If, in fact the Dr was the uphill skier (as I read somewhere else), then she’s clean. The uphill skier always has the responsibility to avoid the obstacles (people included) below them.

They rag on her because of her Goop store which sells a lot of expensive fraudulent/snake oil merchandise which does not do what they claim it does. It goes far beyond her being into crystals.

From what I loosely understand, there are a number of things that work against the plaintiff: (1) it appears that he was the uphill skier (possibly the most important fact), (2) his testimony contradicts the ski instructor’s testimony (who is much more likely to be neutral), (3) he began by asking for an obscene
