The joys of spinsterhood (and underemployment)! Garlic for every meal!

I might try that next time. Lentils are always a good idea. You can also get a lot of mileage out of varying the herbs/spices. I'm currently quite fond of cumin, garlic and oregano.

I have a recipe for tomato soup that I eat almost every week, which is just a can of tomatoes, onions, some ready-made soup stock, a splash of lemon juice and herbs, and maybe a splash of cream when I'm feeling fancy, and it's just the most delicious thing to me. These are things I almost always have in my pantry

Yeah, I've been making a lot omelets as well. Dead simple, filling, and always a good occasion to stirfry some vegs. And potatoes! What can't you do with potatoes! Sometimes a couple of cooked potatoes with butter and salt can be a totally satisfying meal for me. My mum and I often just ate that for lunch, when Dad

Do you enjoy cooking? I didn't have such a hot time last year, in my trying-to-finish-my-thesis funk, and often the only productive thing I would do all day was buying groceries and preparing a meal. For the longest time that didn't lead to any weight loss at all, because I was mostly just making the comfort food of

Could also come across as passive aggressive.

No joke, that actually works pretty well for me. Of course, there's another layer of deeper deficiencies you would only notice after living with me for years, but I don't worry about that in first date scenarios.

The other person probably won't notice how boring you are, because they are too busy fretting about their own terminal dullness.

So he's going to be in Dorne for 6 episodes and then back again in the same position he is in the books at the end of the 5th book. They can come up with ultimately inconsequential side-plots for Dany and Bran to keep the actors on the screen; I'm sure they can manage the same feat for Jaime.

Fair enough.

Can't argue with that; still I suspect that the bigger reason why nobody says "I got laid last night" after masturbation is because masturbation is seen as nothing to brag about, whereas, for some reason people tend to think that getting laid is. The difference in tactile experience…. well, it's there, but that

But that's the point: we aren't exactly talking about _good_sex here, are we?

I suspect that the bednotch-thing is less about sexual release (that can be achieved via masturbation after all), but about the potential validation of being perceived as desirable by other desirable people. But since these encounters don't actually make OP feel validated they are counter-productive in that regard.

Maybe look for other sources of validation, that, you know, actually end up making you feel better about yourself? Art would be the classical outlet. Sublimation and stuff. You're a decent writer after all; it wouldn't always have to be about your sexual exploits (so that's not necessarily an excuse to keep engaging

And usually fueled by such transparent classism too. All the side-eye for that.

I had to read Freud for a class on modernism once and that was fun and made a lot of sense, I think. But I definitely agree that you benefit more by reading it as literature rather than science. Just look at who Freud likes to quote - poets and novelists much more than other scholars/scientists.

That has been my default assumption even before I ever heard that term. "Erotic Triangle" is just a fancy way for saying slash-googles.

My takeaway was rather that the film doesn't have anything else to offer to compensate for the ickyness and can therefore be rightfully forgotten. Doesn't preclude the possibility that art can be valueable in spite of some questionable content - just suggests that this piece isn't.

I have a visceral dislike for his character on Masters of Sex, so I think he'll be well suited for this role - he does "clean-cut menace" really well, I think.

I've read maybe 15 or so and I have a post-graduate degree in English/American studies. I've essentially "wasted" my twenties on these things, and my score is not all that much more impressive. The canon is vast. You can't cover it all.
