Calling Sanderson’s work the MCU of fantasy books is wildly overgenerous, yet does have some truth in it.

I like Sanderson’s books, they’re definitely popular because they’re accessible and competently delivered as opposed to dazzling the reader with prose but there’s no shame in being the MCU of fantasy books.
You’re thinking of Oz. Oz is a prison-set series that also featured Lance Reddick.
Your post is so on the money, and it captures my thoughts exactly. Fringe is excellent: Lance Reddick, Anna Torv, Joshua Jackson, John Nobel and Jasika Nicole are such a great ensemble. Phillip Broyles and Cedric Daniels - two meaty roles for one wonderful actor.
Anyone remember Quantum Break? It was supposed to be Microsoft’s new big video game but they botched the marketing. Still a great game though and a big part of that is Lance Reddick’s performance.
I’d be one of those 50 sacrificed to improve our culture. Which volcano should I head to?
He was great in every role, but the first thing that always comes to mind is the Toys R Me sketch. Intimidating and hilarious is a tough combo to pull off.
I’m reworking my way through The Wire right now and way too much talent from that show is gone far too early. We’d already lost Michael K Williams and Reg Cathey, and now this. This sucks so much.
I love The Guard so much. It’s wonderful.
At the very least, Leprechaun 4 should be there, since it portrays the Irish’s important role in the history of space travel.
Noooope.
THIS! I learned from Witcher 3 and came in expecting accordingly - and most folks I know who loved Cyberpunk 2077 from the start unrepentantly did the same.
Who mainlines the story in ANY game with sidequests? They’re always breathing down your neck, but urgency is narrative not realistic.
(The tone here is meant to be good natured, just for clarity) Did we uh...did we play the same The Witcher 3? I distinctly remember TW3 also pretty strongly pushing you forward with a sense of urgency, what with the whole “You need to find Ciri ASAP cause the Wild Hunt is after her and also if you don’t it could be…
I have over 500 + in cyberpunk 2077. I mainlined it for a while. Started on launch day and ran into very little issues overall within my time playing it. Had no more game or mission breaking bugs then I have found in Bethesda games. I love it and look forward to the DLC. You and your team did great work.
The thing is: I never hated this game. I loved it from day one, hour one. I never felt that my expectations hadn’t been met. Then again, I do not like the Witcher games at all. None of them, and I tried to play them all when they were relased (because the books are ok-ish), and again later on when they got upgrades…
As someone who worked on it... I’m happy you finally gave it a real chance and got some enjoyment out of it. :)
Get over yourself Luke. Stop beating a dead horse. “Disastrous Launch” ? Or did all the gaming news companies all jump on the same bandwagon?
Maybe because I’m a long-time Bethesda player who’s used to ignoring the main quest to go exploring; maybe because I’m not a CDPR fan (only played Witcher 1, didn’t like it, can’t stand Geralt) who didn’t have any “Witcher 3 but with cars” expectations; maybe because I didn’t watch all the hype reels they put out...…
To be fair to TI, it’s a very fun game as well. It’s just a huge time investment. I haven’t played in a few years but for over a decade we had a regular yearly play of it with my gaming group. It was always the Friday after Thanksgiving. What was nice was that since we knew we’re playing and when, everyone could…
