You mean Sega screwed Obsidian over?

Obsidian's previous games were for publishers and QA on a big title is the publisher's job. In the case of New Vegas it was down to Bethesda to catch the bugs and get them fixed, and they didn't do a great job. Looking at the state Daggerfall, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Skyrim were released in, they're not exactly known

AP was delayed and Obsidian requested more time to polish the game. They gave what was effectively an alpha build to Sega, who were supposed to run QA and then provide feedback to Obsidian on what needed to be done. Instead Sega politely took the game, refused to pay Obsidian to do any more work and that's pretty much

There wasn't a GC3. There was 1, the expansion (Dark Conspiracy) and 2. And 2 was certainly very much worth it, much less 'hardcore' than 1 but it still had a good story, excellent gameplay and amazing graphics (still holds up very well today). Certainly GC2 I think was a better sequel to GC than HW2 was to HW1. Dark

They knew the books were wrapping up, so yes, that was definitely a stated aim. When RAFO started and it just looked like Wotmania, a few people said that was a mistake and they should choose a more modern look. But we were shouted down by those who wanted things to stay exactly the same. With the result that there

Wotmania, I'm guessing. They've carried on at RAFO but they made a questionable decision to keep the outdated 1998 look. I'm all in favour of nostalgia, but it was the wrong decision to take given they they wanted to move in a new direction and attract new members for the post-WoT era. That backfired and now it's

HOMEWORLD. Fortunately it's happening, with new version of both HW and HW2 being released by Gearbox in a few months (followed by a brand new prequel game a few months later).

Very. There's no client as with Steam and GoG are rabidly anti-DRM, so you should be able to tinker with them all you like.

XWvTF didn't have a single player campaign, though, it was just lots of multiplayer maps and options. Its expansion, BALANCE OF POWER, was pretty good though. X-WING ALLIANCE was pretty good, but in terms of mission design and challenge level the original X-WING and TIE FIGHTER are still the best games in the series.

I think they created it for these games, based on a few vague statements in the movies. The books then used the games as the basis for how the fighters actually operated (literally, Michael Stackpole and Aaron Allston's X-WING novels are heavily influenced by the games).

Eidos Montreal are working on this Deus Ex Universe thing, which will apparently consist of multiple titles including a PC/console, 'proper' RPG. Now that Thief's out, we should be hearing more about it soon.

Now playing

Also, ELITE: DANGEROUS video showing space docking;

I'm looking forwards to SC as well, but I think Roberts is a little better at the focused, linear space combat campaign end of things than he is the freeform space trading stuff. I'll certainly be picking up both, and it's great to see the space sim bac in fashion after so long :)

Yup. Even a massive, Triple-A game like Skyrim had a budget of $80 million, or 'only' twice what SC has raised from fans alone. And SC's funding still has to top out (although it seems to be slowing; it might eventually hit $50 million but it's unclear if it will do a lot more). Even those games with $200 million +

I don't think that's strictly accurate. The new ELITE is modelling (via procedural generation, for the most part) the entire galaxy with potentially billions of star systems to visit. STAR CITIZEN has a much smaller focus of a couple hundred systems. ELITE seems to be making the online stuff optional, whilst STAR

I heard it sold 'only' about 400,000 copies and lost a lot of money, hence the lack of any sequel.

No, but Cata was made by Barking Dog Studios who kept the original assets. When they were absorbed by Rockstar, the assets were apparently lost. Why Sierra/Vivendi or Relic (Relic were in the office next door, apparently) didn't keep them is not known.

'Early Autumn 2014'.

The original game code and art assets have been lost. AFAIK, they've been trying to locate them but so far with no success.
