This is a dumb take. People concerned with lore and world building also care about a good story. If you want to trade in hateful stereotypes, “fans” like you care more about gleefully pissing off a fandom than seeing a story told well.

The problem with most of Murphy’s shows, and I say this as someone who’s actually a fan of most of these shows, is that he comes across as Dollar Store John Waters who’s trying too hard to shock and offend people with things that just aren’t very shocking or offensive anymore.

It think it’s pretty impressive that every time I think AV Club has hit rock bottom, they find some new “writers” that are even worse than the previous hires. They’re truly committed to complaints, snark and pearl clutching.
