The first Pirates is the best, but my hot take is that I don’t think the gulf from 1 to 2/3 is all that big...

Whoa whoa whoa, a DECONSTRUCTIONIST take on a property many people consider PROBLEMATIC? Why didn’t anyone think of this before?

Who else was blipped though? I think canonically Shuri was, which is a big problem.

Ha...yeah I think that (Greer) wouldn’t help the issues I had with it.

Ehh...I understood the theme. The main character just went from 0 to “I Am Legend, but to the Bigfeet” too quickly for me.

I agree with this; I just didn’t get how or why she was even making entries toward the end, and the details seemed off.  Plus there was the extra framing of the other interviews (her brother? I forget).

Except that’s what took me out of it...as TRT-X says below, it felt too detailed for a journal entry. Like, how does she even have time or is in the mental state to write this out right now? And there was still the external framing device of the interviews.

I enjoyed Devolution except I’m not sure the ending really worked for me as it got wilder (no pun intended) and increasingly implausible, even in-universe. I’m also not sure how you film it, if you keep the “oral history” aspect (the same issue they had adapting World War Z) or if it’s just a straight Bigfoot movie.

Variety reports Lily Collins will play Polly Pocket in a live-action film adaptation of the Mattel toyline written and directed by Lena Dunham.

I was in no way suggesting that the title made it bad.

Considering that X-Men Origins: Wolverine is pretty universally disliked (I think it has its merits, but it’s certainly flawed to say the least), the Snake Eyes movie subtitle is definitely a choice.

I care.  The show was pretty up and down and I don’t think this season was great, but I did want to see a complete story, and the season finale was bonkers in a mostly good way.

“Man of Steel” is my biggest “I understand why other people dislike it, but they’re wrong” movie. The core criticism seems to be that the movie is violation of the characters in the comics, a poor alternate take on the characters of Clark/Kal-El/Superman and Jonathan Kent in particular, especially with regard to these

He was in both if that’s what you mean, but yeah...I don’t know if anyone really cares about what he was doing between ESB and RotJ.

I stand by about 90% of Reloaded. Take out the orgy and tighten up some of the talky parts and it’s a fantastic movie. (I guess, if you’re picky, improve the SFX from the Burly Brawl but I justify that in-Universe by noting that they’re already in a simulation.) It’s still, to me, a sequel that is essentially worthy

If we had to guess, Owen and Grady are probably trying to solve the immediate problem of dinosaurs now opening roaming around the United States

To me it’s one thing to go casual below the waist on a videoconference (e.g., wearing jeans when you might normally wear something dressier if you were in person) but I really don’t get the appeal of not wearing pants or even just wearing shorts in a situation like this. I don’t find long sleeves up top over shorts

Shaunette Renée Wilson played a Dora Milaje in Black Panther but is* also one of the leads on Fox’s show, The Resident, and was also on Billions.

I don’t have Netflix anymore. I watched one series, Combiner Wars I think? I liked the animation but didn’t love the story.
