Am I alone in thinking the badness of this Super Bowl has been way overstated? Look, I’m a Chiefs fan so I wasn’t crazy about either of these teams (Patriots for obvious reasons; Rams because of the game earlier this year, minor lingering KC-STL rivalry, don’t love Peters or Suh, etc.).  But I still watched it and it

As others have pointed out, Brady was already past Montana and Bradshaw for QBs.  Last night he passed Charles Haley for all players.

The Chiefs-Rams game was not the future of the NFL.  The Chiefs-Rams game was the future of having Patrick Mahomes as your QB and Bob Sutton as your DC.  Fortunately, that won’t happen anymore.  Sincerely, a bitter Chiefs fan.

Honest question, I believe the following two things are unassailably true:

(a) Great reference

I get that it’s sort of the Deadspin house style but I feel like every time one of the Big Three briefly pulls ahead of the other two we get an article about how they are “unstoppable” and it just feels really lazy and context-free to me.

Argh, I didn’t see this before I posted mine and it’s a much more elegant execution.

“Jets attacking arrogant patriots?  Tell me more!” - Osama Bin Laden

OR OR OR maybe Belichick was playing 5-D chess while Bob Sutton was trying to eat the checkers.

I had watched this Progressive commercial passively (i.e., in the background) far too many times before I realized it was parodying the Chevy commercials, and when I finally paid attention it was amazing

Honest question:  how many of the “so many stories” do we need when Brown almost killed a toddler with furniture?

there isn’t an unappealing Super Bowl permutation in the bunch

This was the first loss by at least two touchdowns for Alabama under Nick Saban

I don’t necessarily agree with what King has done here, but this whole article is begging the question. King’s logic actually makes some sense even if you disagree or find it distasteful - when determining accolades for football achievements, only use football-relevant things. What Sharper did was immeasurably worse,

Please allow me to yell at a cloud while everyone gets off my lawn, but:  tributes for active players on opposing teams are stupid and the practice should be terminated with extreme prejudice.

I guess I’ve never really thought about this before - the defense can decline the penalty/let the play stand even though the 2nd forward pass is illegal?  Would it be the same thing for an illegal forward pass due to being across the line of scrimmage?

My dad used to go on and on about how this was a rule (that if the punting team touches it first, it’s basically a free play for the returning team), and that more players should take advantage of it.  If only it were a metaphor for our estranged relationship!

First, thanks for actually engaging with what I was saying without throwing around ridiculous accusations and misrepresentations of my view.

Well I’m not sure it’s even worth responding since you claim I can’t “walk anything back” but you completely misrepresented what I said and turned it into a straw man. For one, I didn’t say ANYTHING about intelligence so get outta here with that and your nonsense connection to Jim Crow.
