My Seagate Backup Plus Fast 4tb external drive actually has 2 drives inside in RAID0 and reaches over 200MB/s over USB3.0 (USB3.1 rev1). Its taller but still 2.5" form factor with no external power supply. It loads games faster off of it than internal 1TB drive in Xbox 1x and you can notice it

Updates will still eat it up. Call Of Duty Warzone currently has an 77.9GB update. I turned auto updates off on my Xbox 1x to not go over the limit and update games only I am playing or when at hotel.
