Ah, I was under the impression it wasn't locked down. The .azw format has been, from what I've heard, difficult to crack, and as I don't have a nook, I've not done much research in their direction.

The .epub format is great, as opposed to amazon's .azw format. DRM-free.

It would be a useful idea, but as Notgruntled notes, the lack of hardware controls (in case something goes wrong and a factory reset/data wipe is necessary) becomes a problem. I don't know how touch sensors could replace physical buttons until something of their equivalent usefulness is introduced.

Except for this "bug". And of the three I believe Google Talk is the best, since one can access it from not just one family of devices.

...or how Google does it right? I've always been a fan of Google Talk, and now that I've got an Android phone the functionality is a definite plus.

The fact is, iPhones (at least the newer models) are extremely breakable! You've featured articles on them before; it's almost necessary for those of us who are anything but dainty on our phones to apply some form of protection to them.

I feel it's always most important to state that your opinion is just that: an opinion. Others are free to disagree, and you may have lively debate about your differences, but never insist that your opinions hold more sway or fact than others'. It's like the age-old PC vs. Mac debate: one may be better suited for your

And nothing beats the satisfaction of slamming a hefty tome closed after a hard day's work!

Textbooks are much easier to obtain, sell, and annotate than their virtual copies. Plus you don't have to take a computer to classes where it's inadvisable to use a computer (i.e. math classes) for note-taking, and if you need to you can loan it to a friend. I'd never let a friend take my computer on a weekend trip,

I personally love OneNote for, well, notetaking. The multiple note-sections, syncing ability, and ability to sync with WP7 and iOS (although I own devices on neither platform) is a huge benefit for many users as well.

You're quite right. You sound like a voice of knowledge that's somewhat in the industry him/herself, and I'm more than willing to support that. You make a ton of valid and fair points, but there's no way Giz is anti-Apple. They try and be fair toward most tech companies...

Notice how the buttons look different from the Xoom? Yeah, that's what throws me off.

To me, it looks a bit skinned. So far I've not seen any skinned variant of 3.x yet, and I'm hoping that it's gone for good by the time 4.x rolls around.

iFile supports bluetooth if you pay for it. Cydia store.

Or you could just get iFile in the Cydia store. It's roughly the same price, and it's also shareware, so you can get a free version as well. Plus, it allows you to browse the whole file system!

"free xbox" being not really true; someone spec'd out a machine the same as the deal, and it cost about 200 dollars less than the "deal".

I encourage everyone who believes (and doesn't believe) in "climate change"/global warming to read Michael Crighton's book State of Fear. Michael Chrighton is the creator of the hit series ER, and has quite a bit of knowledge on the subject, conveyed mainly through his characters. He provides quality references to

I oft have to explain to people that when they get a new phone, computer, or any other piece of technology that in order to have a good experience and make it worth their money, it's necessary for them to sit down and expect to spend a couple hours customizing it exactly how they want it so it will work the way they

I agree. Complexity is better, because it is able to suit more people.

This works on iOS 3 and above, and can also work with YouTube videos and videos from the Videos app. I believe that by default, when it's done like this, it defaults to video out, so if you plug in an accessory it will send video through that.
