It’s the opposite though, people are handwaving away the hardware limitations. Switch, which came out five years ago in 2017, is less powerful than the last couple of iphone numbers. botw was not even 1080p and still had a ton of framerate problems. 

OR...maybe people engage with games as art and therefore have nuanced priorities of what does and does not make a good game? Art is a bigger priority for some people. Some people love or hate games based solely on the soundtrack.

They do exist as exactly that! They’re Mizuno Contenders, I believe they’ve been around since the early 90's. I had a pair back in the day, as a kind of a low budget alternative to the Nike Air Max 87.

I hate the speed run meta from L4D. B4B fights this with gear loot, which is great, but yeah, it needs a normal mode, right now it’s easy/hard/very hard, so it’s impossible to play with randoms unless you want to breeze through the campaign without any excitement whatsoever.

Think one of the reasons Gamers (TM) get so mad about reviewers making comparisons because they assign the most cynical possible motives to every reviewer. Always the silliest, most negative assumptions - like that the reviewer only knows Persona and not any other JRPG series rather than Persona being the (obvious!!!)…
