I’m in.

Thank you so much! And yeah: I don’t want to speak for others, but my understanding is that the consensus among pretty much all the freelance film contributors is... no Dowd, no deal. (At least given these circumstances; obviously would be different if Alex was leaving for greener pastures.) If there’s anyone who’s

At the risk of self-indulgence, I’m gonna pop down here for whoever is poking around in the comments section to say that this is my last A.V. Club review. (I believe that’s the case for everyone writing an A.V. Club movie review this week.) This is really more of a farewell-toned piece, ICYMI:

the christian fans are upset about this. they enjoy the countless cold murders but they draw the line at imaginary female jesus okay.

I wonder sometimes if Gen X and X-plus generation writers and TV showrunners haven’t so internalized the story arc of a 26 episode season, that once they start sketching out a season, they go down all these roads and relationships that would work in a 20 to 26 ep season, but hit a wall in an 8 to 10 episode season. If

While I agree that there should be more focus on Midge’s career than on her family, damnit I find Tony Shalhoub and Marin Hinkle so fun to watch.

Midge sucks as a person, but god damn, she is captivating to watch strut around, on stage and off. She’s charismatic to a fault, and I enjoy when the show has her reckon with people becoming disenchanted with her shit. I’m excited for the new season. I wonder if Miriam will remember she has kids.

The production values of this show are insanely good and it’s enough to forgive it’s odd characterizations. ASP has always written cartoonish quippy characters who never really feel real, but the last season took that really far.

At the time, last season really bother me. It felt forced, right down to forcing the in-laws to live together so they had something to do and reason to interact.

Midge is sort of the worst, which is why her career has continuously blown up in her face, from her dust up with Sophie Lennon to almost outing a black performer who gave her the biggest break of her career. The supporting characters do most of the work from keeping the show from turning her into an insufferable

This is fun stuff, I am not sure if I mostly watch to see how the set designers reproduce mid century props and sets or the story.

As someone who was a sophomore in 2006, was I experiencing something akin to war flashbacks? Yes. The aeropostale, the Razr cell phones, and the...overall vibe. Damn.

Centipede Hz is so busy I can understand people finding it impenetrable at first, but then it became addictive. I actually remember where I was when it started to take hold (in one of my irregular runs of actually going to the gym).

Loving this record so far. Early highlights, Cherokee and Royal & Desire. It's very impressive they have made their most live sounding album yet and they recorded it entirely remotely.

Optimistic. I like Prester John, and generally think Painting With... was underrated, but I’ve never got too into their interstitial demi-albums so I never got that far into Tangerine Reef. I guess I generally think when they keep themselves within formal strictures they do their best work. Still, indie darlings and

I’m sure folks will disagree, but I feel like Morgan Spector as George Russell is doing an uncanny impression of Timothy Omundson as Brom Garrett (Deadwood). They shoot it at a different angle, and the character is more confident, but right down to the way he looks offscreen while finishing a sentence, with the

I love her; she was great in The Mick. I’ll definitely be watching.

Ally Sheedy? Are you all just saying random words?

Producers; “congratulations, you’re the lead actress in our sitcom!”

I mean, if in the series finally it’s revealed that Joe Pera had been killing people the entire run, that’d be... well, bold, to say the least.
