I thought it had something to do with grandmas being irrelevant, so I was confused by the pictures of Drake and Bieber for a bit.

I’m a little scared to see Call Me by Your Name. I just don’t think it’s possible to do the book justice on screen.

He who controls the past controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past.

It’s like we’ve traveled back in time 33 years.

Honestly, I think a lot—note: not all—of the disdain towards luxury brands simply comes down to class resentment. Some people look at such objects as too much of an open display of money and are, on some level, disappointed if they can’t make a similar expenditure.

I don’t know about my dog suffering for my entertainment, but I sure do suffer for my dog’s comfort. I can’t lie on the couch and watch TV without her demanding to be scratched or lying in front of my face and blocking the TV or her making herself completely comfortable on my chest with little regard as to how she

I have mixed feelings about the demise of the Ringling Bros. circus. While I understand the concerns for the welfare of the animals, it is undeniable that this circus has been a historical part of American entertainment for generations. Sure, some people may not have liked it for various reasons, but countless others

Supporting companies that provide jobs here rather than outsourcing for cheap to third world factories is jingoism?

As for Bean’s employees: while they may be happy to have work, should they also be happy that a board member and one of the founder’s granddaughter’s actively seeks to lessen their pay, healthcare, protections, etc. through supporting Trump?

Well, good for you and your purity, I suppose. I’m sure you weren’t one of those people who criticized others for refusing to vote for Hillary Clinton because of a similar desire to remain pure.

ONE person of 50-plus family members who own the nearly 100-year-old company supported a Trump-friendly PAC, and that’s enough for a boycott?

Well...what do you expect of him? If you expect him to maintain his appearance, then how fair is it for you to think that he shouldn’t have the same expectation of you?

Again, back to what I said about the number of musicals made in more recent decades:

Those are not all musicals, let alone musicals like La La Land (and Chicago and Moulin Rouge and Rent and so on) with singing and dancing in them and in which characters sing their thoughts and emotions. Many of them are simply movies with music.

“quite a few”? Really? Which ones were made during the 90s, for instance? Live action musicals with singing and dancing in them and not just movies with music, that is.

The Artist is a big part of why I don’t care about these award shows much beyond Best Animated.

I’ll be surprised. I think one musical has won best picture in the last 50 years.

I’d be careful before being too sure that Emma Stone won’t win. She’s got everything they typically look for in a best actress winner: young, star making turn (she sings AND dances!) in a best picture front runner, never won before, paid her dues in the industry.
