Despite the fact that these unvaccinated individuals would not even have the opportunity to spread the virus if the government wasn’t so insistent on opening schools up for in-person instruction

This is a bad faith reading and you know it. A Republican controlled government is not the same as a Democratically controlled one.
And the author seems completely ignorant of the fact that most of these problems were exacerbated by state governors who were deliberately going against federal guidelines to force things to “get back to normal.”
Kinda like the author of this piece was asleep the past year and a half, right? They were going so hard with the generic anti-government/Biden scorn that I had to check and see if Ashley Reese wrote this one. But alas, no. Also the first 400,000 Covid deaths happened before the vaccine was widely available.
I was about to point out that “the government” is not monolith, and in fact, we had a pretty big change in the status quo January 20th. But then I saw this was Justice Namaste’s piece, and suddenly I understand why this devolved into a shotgun of snark and sarcasm.
who watched up close while the
federal government’sTrump administration’s unwillingness to shut down the country early in the pandemic killed their neighbors and loved ones might have been hesitant to take a vaccine that thesame governmentBiden administration insists is safe
Yeah, the weirdo argument here seems to be that people won’t trust the “drastic measures” the government’s taking because those measures weren’t taken before—when they would have probably been seen as even more drastic? But at the same time, these new measures are the basic minimum a government should take? Okay,…
The quality of analysis here has really tanked since the days of Lindy and company. So many bad takes.
We were always going to get to this point. Every epidemic in US history that has ended was ended with mandatory vaccinations.
Are you blaming Biden for the Tuskegee experiments?
Antivaxxers and antimaskers are not “a…
I figured out I was pregnant only a few days after I should have gotten my period. It was rape. I was dealing with major trauma so I didn’t notice the missed period, but all of a sudden my breasts hurt like hell to the touch. I went AS SOON AS I COULD to get the medical abortion because I literally vomited when I…
Tripp’s low self-esteem and the media’s portrayal of her as an old, bitter woman acting out of a selfish desperation seems to be the focus here, but Murphy refuses to drop this approach for a more nuanced take.

Seems like the safest course really. Someone is electing these people.
I’m not sure “don’t get into a relationship for at least one year into your recovery” is very good advice. What if you meet a great and supportive person who you have a mutual attraction with? You’re supposed to forego a potentially healthy and constructive relationship for an arbitrary amount of time for reasons?
That tipline would get flooded, and everyone in Texas would think it's another prank but it won't be.
“And Texas will work tirelessly to make sure that we eliminate all rapists from the streets of Texas by aggressively going out and arresting them”
I mean, how dare suburbanites listen to music? How dare musicians tap into a new market that will help them make more money as artists. How dare Starbucks do things successfully that the article set up as having been done for literal decades before they got into it?
Selling music to people who only want to scratch the surface of a genre! Us *real* people know that if you’re not willing to buy the 16-disc John Coltrane box set, you shouldn’t be listening to jazz at all.
I don’t get the argument. Almost got away with what? Selling music to people who wanted to buy it?
“America has to stop looking for heroes in its Bill Gates figures and start assuming they’re all Jeffery Epsteins.”
Gates does not have an “ongoing” friendship with Epstein, because Epstein is dead. Gates also, according to the article you linked to, cut off personal contact with Epstein in 2014, never entered into business with him despite Epstein’s repeated pitches, and stopped allowing his employees to entertain those pitches in…
