Man, this crushed me this morning. I grew up watching Mirra in the X-Games, and always looked up to him. I wish his family peace while they struggle through this.

While not healthy by any sense of the word, I’ve always really enjoyed pizza ryes. Not sure why they’re called that, because they have nothing to do with pizza, but here’s the rundown:

Weird timing for this article. I was just thinking about this this morning, as I noticed my bag of shredded cheddar cheese said “use within 7 days of opening” and it has been at least 14 days since opening. I decided to take the plunge and still use it, as I didn’t see any visible mold. Now I’m wondering just how much

My grandmother died from choking on a chalky, gray egg yolk after overcooking a batch of eggs for Easter egg dying. A cardinal sin.

I eat a ton of hard-boiled eggs, and although I’ve got the cooking part down to a science in regards to get that nice, creamy yolk everybody wants, peeling them has always been an issue. I’m eager to give this a shot.

It really is difficult. I’ve had to totally infuse my being with the “eat to live, don’t live to eat” mantra because after rent is paid and all of my other bills, I’ve barely got enough to go grocery shopping and make sure I’ve still got enough expendable income for transportation costs. My dinners now generally

I’ve got a cousin who would lick the grease off of Alex Jones’ face if given the opportunity, so the past few Thanksgivings have devolved into conspiracy talk with my family. I’d be grateful for a bit of “normal” political talk.

Agreed. I can’t help but see this for what it actually is: a power play by Sony to try to remain top dog after the Xbox One announced BC. Sony’s argument up to this point was ALWAYS “we have BC in the form of Playstation Now, a subpar, way-too-fucking-expensive streaming platform that literally nobody wants. Stop

Absolutely. I’ve known for a while that I’m addicted to caffeine. I’ve briefly quit in the past, but always come back. I’m not even sure caffeine affects me anymore. It’s more just the ritual of drinking coffee in a work environment. It sure doesn’t seem to help me code any better

Sounds all well and good...but how do you deal with the headaches when you just all of a sudden stop caffeine intake? As an IT person, my mornings are full of the hourly trips to the office Keurig machine. Even reducing my intake at this point doesn’t seem to stave off the brutal headaches that come from caffeine

Oh I can imagine! I’m constantly losing my mind over my job, and a huge part of it is the commute and the amount of wear-and-tear on my car that sitting in stop-and-go traffic causes. I’m looking for a job just a bit closer to home. Working a full 8 hour day, sitting in traffic for almost 4 hours, and then having to

I definitely share that experience. 95 gets pretty gnarly as well. I used to commute from Fredericksburg to Annandale daily. I was sometimes in traffic upwards of 5 hours a day.

Yep. My commute into work is 12 miles. It regularly takes me 1.5 hours in the morning on the hell that is 66E. Going home generally isn’t too bad, though, about half an hour.

I practice spinning and/or lift weights. I find that if I do not do something mentally engaging that I ruminate about work way too much, and end up just drinking the night away to cope. Lately, I’ve been replacing weeknight alcohol binges with old school video games to great effect. Using alcohol to cope with a job I

I think this new update looks great, but is it really following Material Design spec?

Anybody know of any good, free budget apps for web or Android? I've made it to 27 without having a concrete budget, but I really feel that I need to get on the ball about saving and planning more for the future.

Almost exactly like that!

Right. Something isn't adding up here.

I've tried vegetable oil, Crisco, refined coconut oil, and lard. I let it heat up, put a bit of fat in the pan, and rub it around with a paper towel. After it has cooled the pan looks dry again. I've tried this with varying levels of heat, and the end result is almost always the same.

I've followed just about every "this is how you season a pan properly" tutorial on the net and my skillet still isn't seasoned properly. It constantly has a spot in the center that is dry and gross looking, and it's never nonstick like other people's cast iron. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but apparently cast
