Alton Brown was a strong proponent of this in the sausage episodes and others that involve grinding.

Yup, it’s another Takahata film. Infamously released in a double feature with My Neighbor Totoro in Japan. Quite a back-to-back.
If anything, the fun of this movie is worth pointing out that there are non-Miyazaki people at Ghibli making great movies. The Tale of the Princess Kaguya is a beautiful and outstanding film, my favorite Takahata movie by far (and better than a lot of the Miyazaki ones, imho).
It’s bizarre that it doesn’t. It’s the main reason I use Spark instead.
Mac user here. No need for Parallels.
If the goal is pork stock and your butcher stocks them, neck bones are a heck of a lot cheaper than ribs. When I do Tonkotsu, I do a mix of neck and trotter.
I think it’s because we’re one of the closest cities to AMC’s Kansas City home, but the AMC theaters in St. Louis are all heavily updated and have amenities pretty close to your standard Alamo Drafthouse-level theater. Our other major local chain, Wehrenberg, just got bought by a larger chain, Marcus, and they dumped…
Good for you! I did C25K a few summers ago was putting up similar per-mile times as you. I’ve stuck with it without any strong training plan beyond “running is better than not running,” and my speeds have included dramatically along with my distances. I’d strongly suggest downloading a C25K app and making that your…
It kinda feels like they rushed it to get it out during quarantine, but wasn’t this always the launch window? There’s no good explanation for this mess. That being said, it’s not a new cost for me so I can’t complain too heavily. I was just hoping to 4K HDR Ghibli.
I’ve got a 256GB SSD and 16GB of RAM. I’ve thought about getting one of the iFixit kits for a hard drive upgrade and I put in a new battery myself. Other than gaming stuff it just... does everything I ask it to? I have a Thunderbolt monitor and just knowing I can’t get only a laptop, I’d need to update a bunch of my…
Whoops. 2014. My keyboard is fine, I just have brain worms.
I’m still cracking away on a Mid-201r rMBP, and it just keeps working. I’m not a terribly resource-demanding user and frankly probably don’t need the “Pro” level laptops, but nothing has really appeared that makes me want to upgrade.
I look forward to this blog just becoming an excel spreadsheet of when and when not to use mayo.
I believe that’s correct. If I get out of a butter usage phase (for who knows why) my jar of ghee is identical when I inevitably return to it.
Clarified butter and ghee are technically different. It’s sort of like a square is a rectangle but not all rectangles are squares. Ghee is a more heavily cooked form of clarified butter and more shelf stable, with less moisture and milk solids remaining.
I make what I call clarified butter in two pound loads (which perfectly fills a quart Ball jar), but it’s really ghee. I cook out 100% of the water out so it’s shelf stable at room temperature and filter out all the browned milk solids. It’s my primary cooking oil when neutrality isn’t required: it has more character…
I’ve found Strava’s new Apple Watch import feature to be problematic. I like using the Apple Watch Workout app more than most third party equivalents, it’s more stable and seems to snag cleaner data. If you pause in it, though Strava doesn’t recognize what’s going on and the per-mile times get way out of whack.
Hot dogs buns should be steamed, not toasted!
I agree on the ATK stuff. Older seasons of the show back from when Kimball was there were on Amazon for a while and were still great. Cooking shows, namely Good Eats, taught me how to cook, but I’m finding they’re no longer useful (except for the new and fantastic seasons of Good Eats/Good Eats Reloaded).
I have the same issue. What I don’t get from AllRecipes is trust. It seems like any random nerd can get on there and post their favorite recipe for whatever and add it to a totally unedited pile of recipes. I don’t get the indication that there’s any recipe development going on there. I don’t want fifty ways to make…
