Not a dev, so I don’t know specifics, but Marco detailed a number of changes on recent blog posts outlining how he was able to make offline playing of podcasts work in OS 5 with the new APIs.

It’s apparently a glorified remote app in its current form and there’s no ability to play music from your watch independent of your phone, which is the real goal here.
WatchOS 5 included a big pile of new APIs for developers, including the ability for third party apps to store audio on the watch for offline storage. Overcast added it for podcasts and it’s outstanding.
Ugh. Air travel sucks.
Did you know: in addition to penning the McDonald’s “I’m Lovin’ It” jingle, Pusha T wrote the Arby’s “We’ve Got the Meats,” sting. He owns 40% of it apparently, though only got paid once for the McDonald’s one.
I think there’s an autocorrect issue in an original comment. Delicious Vinyl is likely Vintage Vinyl in the Delmar Loop. There is no Delicious Vinyl in St. Louis.
We have a Mission Critical one and while I love it, our 4 month old demands to face forward and see the outside world, unless she’s sleepy enough to nap on me. The way the Mission Critical one fits, I worry about how wide the crotch-zone is and her hips, so it’s on hiatus until she grows. We also have an Infantino one…
Numbies don’t lie.
I understand stats. This just means I need to move to another country to live longer.
As a St. Louisian:
Those exact sandals are also one my most recent Amazon purchases. I managed to give myself plantar fasciitis because we got one super nice day in Missouri and I greatly increased my running mileage all at once because running in nice weather is much easier than running at nearly 100F. They’ve become my go to “house…
Ding ding ding
This is great, thank you.
I actually like The Ringer, but up until now only paid attention to the pop-culture side. I have listened to a couple episodes of their podcast (and subscribed to The Flagrant Ones!), so I’m glad I have external verification that it’s good content. I also found this:
As a non-NBA guy, the off-court stuff prior to this season has been more than enough to get me to pay attention. This seems like a thing to start watching. Thing is, I’ve never watched any professional basketball.
While they presumably scrape all your data for everything it’s worth, Slice does all this stuff automatically in one single app and does pretty robust notifications for it. It’s a trade off, but it’s sure convenient.
Most budget figures don’t include marketing costs, too, so the picture is even grimmer when you consider the marketing blitzes that have accompanied these films.
It’s not an unheard of technique:
There’s a local restaurant that does cacio y pepe scrambled eggs on their brunch menu and I’ve started doing the same at home. Hard Italian cheeses (whatever is in the fridge) with lots of black pepper is great in eggs.
That makes sense. I generally get better speeds at my house in the burbs.
