Entire cultures are vegan for various reasons. So it's fine, as long as the behbeh is getting all their vitamins. Protein, iron, calcium, etc dont have to be animal-based.

Plant based parent here, with a thriving 4 year old plant based kid.
I think as long as you're making sure your kids are getting the appropriate nutrients, it's cool. If the friend is also a vegan, I'd hope that she'd have an understanding of what protein/calcium/etc.-rich foods her kid should eat.
What happens when an omnivorous diet is not "well-planned?" You get sick.
Cats are obligate carnivores; humans aren't, so as long as the baby's getting the complete protein it needs (and a conscientious adult vegan should know how to do this, even a cursory glance at vegan forums on the Internet makes it apparent it's a frequent subject), that won't be the cause of death...well, at least…
I have a four month old who is still 100% breastfeeding (my wife is doing an amazing job with feeding) but I cannot wait for people to judge me based on what I feed him so I can tell them to fuck right off and stay out of my business. I have a sister in law who is already doing everything but emailing me power points…
Provided she's properly researched and is actually making sure the baby's diet is balanced, it should be fine. My brother was on soya milk as a wee baby because cows milk DID. NOT. AGREE (and we're already vegetarian, so it's not like he was getting meat or anything). And now he's a big chubby computer programmer, so…
My kid is three, breastfed past two and has been vegan since birth. He's off the charts for height and meets or exceeds all the developmental milestones. A vegan diet can be done at any age. Even myplate.gov and professional dieticians associations agree that it is healthful at any age if done correctly, but with…
My foray into veganism has introduced me to many people who are raising completely healthy and thriving vegan children. That said, I think it largely depends on each individual. My cholesterol tends to run on the lower end (even when I ate meat). So, my doctor has to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't drop too…
I think you probably have a little exposure bias going on. Most people I've met think that autism is NBD because most of the autistic people you can actually meet in life are on the mild-to-moderate end of the spectrum. People with severe forms of it are more often confined to their homes, hospitals, state facilities…
It should be fine, as long as they are conscious about stuff like B12 and zinc. Keeping the kid on boobs or formula for another year or two would take care of that.
It depends on if vegan lady knows what she's doing or not. A vegan diet can be perfectly healthy if she's making sure that the baby is getting the correct nutrients, but if she's just feeding the baby soy milk or whatever that's not good.
"It is the position of the American Dietetic Association that appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. Well-planned vegetarian diets are appropriate for…
From my understanding it really depends on how much the parents are paying attention. Typically a vegan diet wouldn't have enough nutrients but I'm sure you can make up those vitamins and such other ways? I would want to talk to a pediatrician before I did anything like that.
As the owner of a toddler, I could not fathom what I would do if I decided that he could not eat cheese. Cheese is pretty much his favorite food. That said, he hates meat. Maybe it's a toddler thing.
I am honestly so fucking sick of everyone acting like Autism is the ultimate evil. It is a (usually) fairly mild neurodevelopmental disorder. I realize that it isnt always easy, but that doesnt mean that people within the autism spectrem arent still people and are plenty able to go living happy, functional lives. It…
I get it too. And my look older to get into that club and see the band go tos were black eyeliner and red lipstick (or black depending on my mood). Ahhhh, memories. I would have erred on the side of not rapey sounding good taste and gone with a name like Sneaking Out or Fake ID.
What does Sandra Bullock have to do with this?
I honestly thought they were talking about the character from True Blood.
