Not just classism. One of the things that many white liberal atheists seem to miss is that in the US latinos and black people are overwhelming religious. And religion has helped their communities (in the modern day) more than any other entity. Similar argument for women in the Middle East and Africa.

This is a very good comment. The narrative around Zimmerman's race is so tiresome. There are so many reasons why Zimmerman has been conferred white privileges and he's probably had them off and on his entire life. But in a case against a black kid, you bet he had white privilege.

Reducing the number of latinos and blacks in prison does not mean to not imprison the people who very clearly committed a heinous crime. There are many steps that can be taken (education, releasing non-violent offenders, monitoring the trials of minorities) rather than outright not jailing murderers.
