If the most extreme ones were smart/dumb enough to organize and make violent overthrow a part of their stated (not implied) agenda they'd sure as shit be a terrorist group. I'm sure plenty individuals in either group you mentioned would commit terrorist acts. They just aren't well organized, thank god.

Well the theoretical Republicans were on board with civil rights before the theoretical Democrats. Of course it wasn't these Republicans and people who were Dems and Repubs between 1930 and 1970 hardly align to the current system. Tons of people who were Republicans there would be Democrats today and vice versa.
