As stated…

I've always been rather fond of it. As stated by some others it has a super soundtrack, some very interesting production design (all the beast castle stuff) and some great set pieces like the spider web. Like all films that fall a little short but have touches of brilliance it's almost more interesting when you can

Watch her in the fantastic 1983 Ivanhoe with James Mason, Sam Neil and John Rhys Davies. She is beyond spectacular. Also look out for a young and equally gorgeous Olivia Hussey.

Because Dennis is a bastard man!

The funny thing is I might agree that the English film is the better film, I just didn't find it as scary. Thus the Japanese version is for me the better horror film.

Totally fair. I do think it is that Roadgames/Duel type film where there is a certain plausible terror in the situation that could freak some people out more than straight horror but agree it's not solidly in the genre.

I think it's arguable. That mystery/thriller/horror line sometimes gets a little thin.

There's no pretence. The television scene is miles better in the Japanese version :P

It's pre 2000 but the Japanese ring is much better. The escape from the television scene is impossible to replicate properly and is about the most terrifying thing ever.

Yeah it's genuinely creepy. Didn't bother with all the sequels but it's very clever and effective on a low budget.

Agreed, there are much stronger options.

I would say that if "Cabin in the Woods" gets a nod then "Tucker and Dale Vs Evil" should probably get a nod too! "You're Next" is indeed pretty solid. Also as much as I liked "House of the Devil" the ending is pretty meh and would probably drop it down a few places in my estimation. At the same time "The Strangers"

Totally agree. The acting and writing are beyond clunky. This is the kind of thing you can only get away with when you're established already and people are nervous to ask if you've ever actually directed anything before.

Elephant is good. Paranoid park is awful. I can see how Elephant could confuse someone into thinking Paranoid Park is decent… after all, it looks like a continuation of the same shoot…

Thelma & Louise is amazing. People tend to forget how wonderful it actually looks. Seriously, that film is stunningly beautiful.

Paranoid Park was pretty rubbish. It had some beauty but was otherwise a rambling, incoherent mess.

I would totally be down with The Rules of Wizarding Attraction/Fight Wizards. Sadly I don't feel like that hard R is what we have coming from this particular offering…

Or a really dirty toothbrush.

Bana is great. Funnily enough he spent a long time as a comedian on Australia television doing skit shows before hitting the big time. The Castle was a bit of a comedy hit over here and he has a pretty funny comedic part in it. Romper Stomper is for my money the best Russell Crowe film. It's early in his career, he

The only chef to come across and then eat the magnificent SQUEEZLE! Or at least that's what the locals insisted on calling it…
