I’m a casual baseball fan in the Detroit area. In ‘84, when the Tigers started 35 - 5, I probably went to 40 games. I worked downtown, and bleacher seats at Tiger Stadium were $5. Almost every day, a group of co-workers would pile in a car - like 8 or 9 of us crammed in - and park in the expensive, $20 lot directly

The video synchs up nicely with Peer Gynt Suite.

The stat I found most amazing is that VB has been fined over $5M by the league. And to put that in perspective, he has career earnings of just over $32M.

That must be it, as I rode that one, too.  It was crazy, too, but nothing like these two deathtraps.

Yes! Keep ‘em simple, so people want to try them. Not every recipe needs to require trips to three separate ethnic groceries, and a restaurant supply store, and a 90-minute instructional video.

Took a family vacation to Denver, and spent the day at a local water park. Two of the craziest rides I’ve ever seen, at least as far as safety goes.

It is not possible to overthink football. This storied game rewards bold strategies, Machiavellian game planning, and elaborate offensive schemes.”

Detroiter here, who just went to the original Ben’s location on a recent trip to DC. As proud as I am of the Detroit coney dog, I have to say the half-smoke is a worthy contender for the title of top dog. That smoke flavor really takes it over the top.

They had a chance to win, but just a big ol’ miss there.

So you’re sayin’ there’s a chance!

If you say that shouldn’t have been a penalty, your lyin’.

Life is simple; $20s are magic.

I fly every other week for work, and it boggles my mind that there’s discussion about if you “have to move”.

If the team sucks, why waste your next franchise QB?  To see how much punishment he can take?  To see if you can make him permanently gun-shy?  To see if his ACL can snap like a twig?  For the glory of, perhaps, 8-8?

Nope.

Great story, Aimee, and you handled the ending well.

Pine Knob has had this for years. Saw J. Geils there on their last (?) tour, and Peter Wolf was being pulled off stage because of curfew.

Scores of underage and young females, abused over years of time, covered up by organizations interested only in protecting themselves, rather than the athletes and students. . . yeah, guess I’m thin-skinned about stuff like that.  But hey, MSU is hiring!  Your indifference to abuse will fit right in.

While I realize it’s double that of what PSU was fined, doesn’t $4.5M seem a pittance compared to what happened? I guess the Title IX reforms are the more important part, trying to prevent recurrence, but this just seems like . . . not a painful amount.

Same. My sister tried to stab me in the back with a butcher knife when I was 8. Missed only because I turned at that exact second, so she stabbed the Formica counter instead, taking a chunk out of it.
